Talking Hey KAZ

I have been looking at DDR motherboards and AMD processors all day...you guys have really got me psyched about building one...What do you think will be the best board to buy to support the new Athlon 4? So far I like what I have read about the Iwill, MSI, and Epox boards. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

You definately gotta go DDR with the Athlon4 (Palomino), it can use the extra bandwidth from what I've read. I went with the A7V133 (KT133a) just to see if I was gonna like AMD without getting rid of my memory, and I am impressed (AMD ROCKS). They get hot though which takes some getting used to after running Intel all these years (the Palomino is not supposed to run as hot). I did some case mods and now have it right at 48-50c full load.

I am going to wait and see how the A7N266 shakes out in a couple of months plus by then the Palomino should be at around 1.6ghz, if I were buying a DDR mobo today I would probably get the MSI K7T266(Via) or the Asus A7M266(Amd) I have a K7T-Turbo-R(Kt133a) as a back up but I have run it for 3 weeks and it is very easy to set up and very stable.....

Thanks Kaz, I'm just trying to read as much as I can right now; it will be late July or early August before I can build the system. I read alot about the Epox EP-8K7A...it also posts some very good reviews and comes with RAID for $132...MSI is also very highly rated...Damn I read so many reviews today they are all starting to run together...When will the Athlon 4 be officially introduced?
Hey man 1 more post and you are at the 1K mark, early congrats; I've really learned alot from reading your posts!!!

Thanks milesc3,

From what I've read the Athlon MP is basically the same as the Athlon 4 but they had to come out with it now because of the 760MP SMP(dual) chipset, the standard Athlon 4 is supposed to be out in August, here is part of a good artcle at Anandtech.....

Reviews are great but go to the forums and newsgroups to find out about the problems and what the people who have the mobo you're interested in think.....JMHO

Yes, kaz is absolutely right. I would wait for the NForce chipset & by that time Palomino will be at 1.6 GHz plus. Just hangin' there milesc3, no need to rush. I will wait for Christmas, and get my Palomino, DDR SDRAM & NForce mobo for my presents

Patience is a virtue that I'm hoping to have one day! I was hoping to do something in mid to late August.

Then your thirst will be quenched... Nvidia has said the top five Taiwanese board makers will ship products in late August. They are: Asus, Abit, Gigabyte, MSI, and Iwill (?). Not sure about the later. Wait till late August then, if not, I'm gonna catch your dog
