change to mobile processor?

I was wondering, since my Athlon XP3000+ is a 333fsb model (superlocked) would I gain any advantage over it by getting a Mobile XP2500+? The highest stable FSB for my XP3000+ is around 189. If I were to get the mobile processor and drop the multiplier and up the FSB over 200, would it be better then my XP3000+ @ 2.44ghz?

I doubt you'd see all that much of an improvement. My Mobile 2500+ on my A7N8X-E-Dlx won't run over fsb=190 without errors. Save your money for a totally new rig in a couple months.

I'll tell you one thing. I running my Mobile XP2400 at 220 FSB (440 DDR) at Multi of 11 on my ASUS A7N8X Dlx Rev 2.0. Running stable at 2.43 GHZ. Sweet!

if you have PC3200 memory, you could go to FSB200 or higher with a Mobile in it.

that will crank things up because both CPU and Memory will go 20% or more faster !

you 'll have to get a very good cooler to be safe in the temps department.

I 'm running my Mobile 2500 at 210x11 (2310 MHz) for now; going to try a hogher multi soon ...

i've got a somewhat decent cooler, the Volcano 11 or 12,,can't remember which one it is but it is the all copper HSF. Since I bought the combo, I have replaced the fan with a larger CFM fan so it's prolly cooling a little bit better then it was when it came off the shelf. I've got some AS5 to help along with the cooling solution also. Now all I need is for someone that wants to give me their old mobile 2500+ processor to get in touch with me....
