| Help needed Quickly. I dont know if this fits here, but my motherboard says Nforce MCP-D on it so we'll give it a try. Problem: I turn on computer and it Rapidly turns on and off, effective flashing the opening bios screen at me repeatedly. It seems taht it's trying to start up but just can't do it. Background info: I have an old HP 761n that runs a XP 2000+ CPU (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...ocname=bph07376) for full details. We lost one of the rams...). It got screwed beyond recovery. HP provided no recovery disc to reinstall Windows (XP Home), so we took it into our own hands using a Windows XP Home upgrade disc to install Windows again. 2 Windows were installed and it worked for a while but then this happened. I reset the bios this morning and here I am. I know what to do if I can get it to startup again, so dont worry about that. Please help. I've heard that you can help with problems from a fella over at Rage3d. This is my first post. Thanks. -Tyler |

| Tyler, welcome to ABX. Someone knowledgable about your board will be along to give you a hand shortly. But, please, do not post duplicate threads or posts, that is against the rules here, and also is very confusing because members cannot then see the complete history of what has been done to help you out. I have deleted the duplicate thread. If you want to get current attention to your thread, just post an additional message in that thread saying "...bump..." and members will know that you are still looking for help. |

| Stick around Tyler, someone familar with the NVidia chipset will give you a hand. It's early but help will appear. Don't worry about the double post, many do it the first time here, so no problem. This is a very friendly place and you will get lots of help. |

| The first thing I would check Tyler, is that the ram is seated correctly in thier slots. (You said you recently lost a ram stick). If you have any pci cards installed remove them for now just in case. 2. Clear the bios using the jumper if it has one ( couldn't find an online manual to check ) or by removing the battery and leaving it out for 15-20 min. Make sure you turn off the power supply and disconect the power cord before removing the battery. gl

| if that doesn't work then I would verify the remainder of your memory is still good. Create a Memtest86 boot floppy. note: it is a non-windows OS, so you won't be able to read the floppy in windows, but it will boot just fine. www.memtest86.com
