| I am at my wits end. This pc has worked fine until about a month ago when the vocal reporter started going nuts in windows. I have tried everything to correct the problem, checked everything I could think of, reseated everything, reseated cpu and heatsink, replaced the AC5, I mean everything. In one last attempt, I decided to flash the newest BIOS... Well, in the middle of the flashing procedure, it gave me two loud beeps and restarted. I then got this message: Bios checksum error,AWDFLASH.EXE NOT FOUND INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER WHEN READY. Great!! So I got on my other comp and looked this up, found a few guides on this very same problem. The only thing that seems to work for people when they encounter this problem is to create a bootable floppy disk with an autoexec.bat that wil automatically run AWDFLASH.EXE and update to the BIOS you included on the disk. So, I followed the guide step by step, double checking, triple checking everything to make sure I was following it EXACTLY. I insert the disk and boot up... Bootblock automatically loads the AWDFLASH.EXE included on the floppy, and then I get the error message:SOURCE FILE NOT FOUND. I dont get it. Im perplexed, I cant find any other way to correct this problem other than what I tried. I could swap out the bios chip, I have found a few guides on how to do that as well. I also Called ASUS and was bounced around all over the place by their reps, who I guess didnt know what I was talking about or didnt want to deal with me. Irritates the hell out of me. Anyway, if anyone has any ideas, or suggestions, or solutions, or creative ways to blow this motherboard up, please let me know. Thanks.

| Does the BIOS file you're trying to flash have ".bin" at the end? Without that extension, the BIOS isn't going to be able to find your file. If worse comes to worse, you can order a replacement BIOS chip flashed to whatever BIOS you want. http://www.badflash.com/ |

| Yes it does have .bin at the end of it. And I guess I may have to buy the replacement chip...I just dont want to spend any money. Guess I have to, I looked at badflash already...seems like a good option. I just wanted to see if anyone has any other ideas before I shell out the little money I have.

| One last suggestion. Try putting this DOS switch at the end of the autoexec.bat: (BIOS file name).bin /f Leave a space after "bin". "f" is just the switch command to flash. |

| Thats a cool little device. Thanks Sierra. As for the mobo situation, I started thinking about it more and more, and just got irritated even more when I reminded myself about Asus tech support. I have always heard thier products are superior, but their support is the worst. Well, I changed my mind about the board, I loved it, but I decided to get another one to hold me over until I can afford a new system. So I picked up a MSI K7N2 Delta2-LSR at my local shop for $50. Great board, very happy with it.

| Glad the MSI board is working for you. Sometimes it's better to cut your losses and move on. |
