Soundstorm speaker out settings

I have 2x speakers and a separate sub. Currently I'm running the sound as a 6 speaker arrangement with only the 2 fronts and the sub connected.
This is fine for anything which is usually in 2 channels, but when i play BF1942 with hardware sound It sends everything behind me to the nonexistant rear speakers.

Is there any way that I can get 2.1 output? it seems strange that there isnt an option for this.

Try using 2 speaker setup in the nForce control panel. There is a box you can check to create LFE channel, which will be the sub. There is also a separate sub out jack On the board that might do it if you have the right connecters.

sorry, havent checked back here for a looong time.

i've tried both of those but neither works. It seems that if it's not set to 6 speaker output it completely ignores the centre/sub.
I tried create LFE, but all this does is mix the low frequency range of the other channels if there is no LFE channel in the source, AND it doesnt work in anything other than 6 speaker mode.

The annoying thing is that my sister's Nforce1 board DOES let you output whatever you want on whatever channel, GRRR
