Things to do with old parts

I am thinking about revamping left over parts with my old socket A to give to a friend who needs a computer for music/CD burning, web surfing and picture storage. USB is a must and on-board sound just for the sake of saving money. I noticed the MSI K7N2GM2-LSR has also built in video. The card I have to stick in this system was a less-than impressive PNY GeForce3 TI 200. Anybody have opinions about this mobo? Is the on-board video worth a darn?

As far as the Video goes I think you're better of with the Geforce3 Ti. They perform better than the "NEW" GeForce MX versions!

Biggie!

The Ti is better then the on board video. But if it is just for what you said then there is relly no need for anything better than even the onboard.

If you are just looking to get rid of the card then sure, why not? Or why not try to sell it on FLeabay, maybe get a few bucks to take the soon-to-be-Mrs. out to dinner.

Do already have the MSI board or are you aquiring it? If you are buying it why not look again to the Flea to get a better used board at a discount.

BTW: I get to wear my custom jersey to work tomarrow!

Well, I am sort of revamping old parts for a friend who doesn't have a computer, but I have an old Soyo board that is horrible. No USB ports, lan, etc. So I can price a Sonata case (my old one met the dumptster) for about $70. I can upgrade the mobo for 70. I have a XP 1.7, 512 mb of ram (fine for what she's doing), the Ti. So add a cheap optical mouse, keyboard and speakers and for about $200 she'll have all the computer she'll need. BUT, I need mobo advice and was wondering if the on-board was worth a darn.

Think of the on board graphics as being as good as your workstation at work. I am assuming that they all have onboard video. Would that suffice for her purposes?
