Using AMD XP2400+ with ASUS A7V133

Has anyone tried to use an AMD XP2400+ with an ASUS A7V133 motherboard? (or any other XP chip, come to that) I would like to try it out but the website says that the latest bios will only support up to XP2100.

Would the motherboard take the processor, but run it at the slower speed, or would there be problems recognising it? ... or would the processor fry?!! Any thoughts?
