| While I like Boogar kings oncet inna wile, I posolutely hates VIA's... After the problem I had with my ABit VA6 and it losing the USB port too often, Not likely I'll buy another MB with a VIA chipset. Aside from that problem, it was reasonable stable, most of the time. BTW, when did the snotburger place start selling chipsets? You gottem confused with McChips? <LOL> ...

| Wayne you problem was not Via is was Abit, Via makes a great chipset now. The new KT133a is a much better chipset then the I815 is. It is not limited to 512 megs of Memory It supports 4 way Interleaving Its AGP apeture size is greater then 64M At 155MHz FSB I still have AGP 4X I have a 1333 Thunderbird running at 1.550MHz with no lock ups. I also believed Intel was better until I build this system a week ago. I know see the light. |

| Oh, you said VIA. Sorry, I wouldn't know about such inferior unrealiable budget chipsets that aren't worth their weight in silicon. -SSZ |

And on the Abit newsgroup, there was much posting about the problem and it included the KT series chipsets. Some also mentioned Asus MB's with these problems. VIA be damned. Here's your light.

| ssz - hrm..i dunno...seems like a dated statement.. they do make a great chip now... i agree with your statement, about a year ago! =) i had a VIA board bout 8 months ago, and had nothin but problems so i went to cusl2.. however, know a few ppl with via's now (and built a lot in my store) that have no probs... and howard stern is right..look at what you can still get out of it =) i've always been an intel person myself..but they've gotta comeout with something better quick. cryogen

| You could not be more wrong super, The new Via chipset will out perform any Intel chipset. We can compare numbers if you want. As for stability Via and Intel are dead even. I will give you an example: PIII-1G @ 1.2G with Muskin rev 3 Sandra memory benchmark 440\480 Via KT133a with same memory 1.333G Athlon 697\703 Thats a big boost for Via. I can email all the tests from Sandra and you can compare them if you want. |
