| Wake from Standby Using ASUS A7V333 mobo (BIOS v1016), AMD Athlon 1.33G, 256 MB RAM, Win98SE. I have disabled Power Management in BIOS in the hopes Windows could handle going into /wake from standby but when I try it the PC goes into hibernation OK but will not wake !! It sits there with blank screen and cannot be restarted with mouse movement, keyboard or even ctrl/alt/del, there is not even any HD activity to suggest it is only the monitor not coming back on. I have to cold boot it (i.e. switch off power and restart). I've tried all flavours of standby from full hibernation to simply turning off the monitor but non works. Any ideas ?? (hope you dont suggest BIOS flashing !....I hate doing that !!) ![]() PS: I did have a very slight problem with an Inno3D S3 Savage 32MB vid card (it corrupted some gui's and screensavers) but I've replaced that with a nVidia GeForce card (which cured it). I wonder if the graphics card could've been stopping it waking up ??

| Win 98SE in standby Windows 98 isn't stable enough to run in standby. That's why you see very few of them on laptops. I had an Asus A7V133A. It would crash coming out of standby in win 98, but when I put xp, standby worked fine. The A7V333 has very similar h/w. |

| While we're on the subject.. Is there a way to wake a computer from hybernation at a specific time every day without physically touching something? I wanted to record a TV show every day but hate leaving the computer on all day every day. The closest I've come to getting it to work was to bring it out of standby mode with a scheduled task (solitare). This only worked maybe half the time for some reason.
