Talking what the h*ll is this thing!?

Ok, I do not know what this thing is, a friend of mine pointed it out a few hours ago. (and please bare with me, my digicam really didn't like taking pictures inside a dark case, I know it sucks)

Ok, see the corner of my a7n8x? With all the little jumpers and that for HDD lights and what not.

Well, in the middle of em all is a jumper, I [swear filter] you not. Can not for the life of me figure out how I managed to miss it, I marked it red on the pic anyway.

I tried moving the jumper (naturally...) and, well nothing.

Or so I thought...

Because I am now running my a7n8x-dlx with an FSB of 220! I could barely nudge myself past 200 before! I don't know what the hell this is so... any of you guys have it?

Your Manual that I just downloaded from Asus says it is your CPU_FSB Jumper...

Pins 1 & 2 give you 333/266 Pins 2& 3 give you FSB200.

You are right, changing while hot is a bad thing to do.

You might also try looking at your manual. They are helpful once in a while....

Acording to my manual for the deluxe board that jumper is for USBPWR_56 pins 1&2 are the default +5V, pins 2&3 are +5VSB.

The cpu fsb jumper is in the middle of the board next to the northbridge. According to the manual this allows the system to wake up by a usb device differently.

You are right, the manual does place the jumper by the northbridge, but this may be a revision. I am correlating the jumper to what you said happened, not necessarily correlating it to the geography. You are right that the the manual pics show no jumper in that area. My suspicion is that they have REV'd the board...

Asus is generally pretty good about labeling jumpers, so I am suprised you cannot see a name by the jumper.

I just opened mine up and there is a jumper there and that is what the manual and all diagrams that came with my board show. There should also be two jumpers towards the upper right side of the board by the rear usb connections that are for the same thing. Not quite sure why changing that jumper would give a fsb boost but your making me think of trying it as I can't get my system to boot at anything higher than 157 fsb.

Yes, just looked at my board. It is also a rev 1.04. The jumper is labeled on my board on what would be the right side of it in the picture. I might have screwed up my right and left in previous post, should be the upper left of the board (towards the rear of the case. I'll try to get a picture but might not come out.

Have the pictures, just can't figure out how to get them posted.

By the way upon further inspection I do not have the jumper in question. Is your board made by asus or a second party?? Also, is it definately the deluxe version?

Ok, that is exactly what mine says on the board between the pci slots. How do I get the pictures up in the message like you did? I have a couple of pics to show both things.
