I use 3DMark 2000 to test the stability of my computer. The program is made to test the video related devices but puts an extremly large amount of stress on your CPU and memory. If you have an older video card (voodoo1, voodoo2) than it might not be the funnest thing to watch but when the demo is ran looped without sound it will do a great job of using your comps resources.

PROGRAM : 3DMark 2000

TIME LEFT TO RUN : Usually 24 hours will prove your comp stable. Longer is better

URL OF PROG' TO DOWNLOAD : http://www.madonion.com

COMMENTS : The tests and benchmarks that come with it are very nice but the main stabilty test is running in Demo Mode. If you have any questions email me.

You could also try some others :

Program : Prime95, Heavy Load, Stability Test, Burn In Test

Time to run : 24 hours at least

URL : http://www.subzeropc.com

They programs stress your hardware by doing lots of processing, calculation etc. Also helps in burning them in. Make sure you have a proper cooling setup first.
