Question

Hi,

which is the best CPU of the PIIIs to OC? I'd like to buy a 866, but I heard its not so good for OC. Or do I reach with it 1GHz?

Generally,consider that :
cA2 core hits @800 easy
cB0 core hits @1000 easy
cC0 core hits @1100 easy
Buy a cC0 which is better and remind yourself that OC is not for saving money only,it`s for the enjoy of experiment and overall system performance.

By the way, serious OC the most times is more expensive-and more demanding than a +200Mhz cpu and often than the whole system!

So,go for a processor that come with your needs and then take the extra juice it has.

To quickly answer your question, The 700E W/ cC0 Stepping is by far the easiest to overclock i have 3 of them 1 will run at 1GHZ Rock Solid, the others run ROCK Solid at 933.

Simply use H.ODA`s WCPUID or Intel`s CPUID for dos to see what stepping your cpu is.
cA2(core) is a stepping 1 cpu 1.65V default voltage
cB0(core) is a stepping 3 cpu 1.65V default voltage
cC0(core) is a stepping 6 cpu 1.70V default voltage
