| The BIOS Asus writes and provides for its new X48 motherboards are much more advanced than that of the X38 motherboards and include controls and tweaks never before available to an enthusiast. Many owners of the X38 Maximus Formula are flashing the X48 Rampage Formula BIOS to their X38 board because of the sophistication of the X48 BIOS. There are a few issues still being addressed and written into X48 BIOS updates so there will be new BIOS updates. What are one or two of the concerns you are aware of that I may not be? |

| Re: dumb question, but He might be talking about the LLC ( Line Load Calibration) on the Rampage and 45 nm cpu's.Some People say the pc crashes at idle with it on.I haven't noticed any problems with my board. But I turned off LLC anyway till I learn more about what's going on.

| Re: dumb question, but hmmmm.....i was just over at the asus boards again and looking at the problems with the p5e3D (which is really the mb i was looking at).....bios not recognizing the cpu (8500 or 9xxx) and dudes having to use a 6600 or something just to get the mb to take the newest bios.....so this is why i should be looking at the x48s? hmmmmm.... thanks

| Re: dumb question, but but i'm thinking ddr3.... is it true that the maximus extreme can be turned into the rampage extreme simply by updating the bios? i'm thinking there's not much difference between x38s and x48s except QC and bios.....
