| Re: E8500 overclock result..so far !! Sounds good! But I usually run "in place large FFT" mode, which is a more severe test with respect to the cpu. Memtest86+ takes care of the memory. I'd suggest maybe running Prime95 in large FFT mode for an hour or two and then declaring victory! -- Al

| Re: E8500 overclock result..so far !! No...after 1 hour and twenty min. ERROR BIOS: CPU Core >> 1.35 V CPU FSB >> 1.4V Memory >> 2.200V SPP >> 1.40V MCP >> auto = 1.500V SPP-MCP >> auto = 1.20V Can't be the memory ???? ...so CPU ?? What to do ?? With this test, the temp. stayed at MAX 63 C...not bad considering my system is running for about 14 hours now. And IDLE gives a nice 43C again !! Hans

| Re: E8500 overclock result..so far !! Not sure what SPP and MCP are -- I have no experience with nVidia chipsets. I thought you were using 2.275 on the memory, but your last post says 2.200. What is the maximum voltage the memory is rated for (see the manufacturer's website if need be)? Also, I'd go to about 1.38V on the cpu and reduce the fsb to around 1.36 (thereby raising the cpu slightly, and making the fsb voltage stay no higher than the cpu Vcore, taking into account "Vdroop" that I referred to in TQ's thread that you participated in). -- Al

| Re: E8500 overclock result..so far !! My fault..it was 2.200, this is the default Volt. for this memory. I have asked whats the MAX to use with this memory, 2.300 seems to be safe I lowered the FSB to 1.3V (can choose 1.2 - 1.3 - 1.4 - 1.5) CPU >> 3.6 at the moment. Give this a try...thanks Al and have a nice weekend Hans.

| Re: E8500 overclock result..so far !! Nice! I'm running my E8400 at 3.8 gHz. Add the 0.16 gHz difference in stock speed relative to your E8500, multiplied by the overclock ratio, and you get almost exactly 4.0! Very consistent. You could probably go higher by pushing the voltages and temperatures, but my instinct is that to go significantly higher you'd probably be jeopardizing long-term reliability. -- Al

| Re: E8500 overclock result..so far !! Thanks I think I better leave the CPU at 4.0...because of the low Vcore, and TEMPS. Only thing I can do to get some extra FPS, is maybe to use multiplier 9...to overclock my memory a little more ?? Hans

| Re: E8500 overclock result..so far !! Mulitplier X9 (CPU still 4.0) ...this with 4-4-4-10 (not 12) -1T BLEND/test, so lot of RAM tested, two hours...NO ERROR Memory running 1:1 with 444.5 ...same Volt so 2.275V and the rest the same as above !! ...and 63C max in REAL/TEMP. Gaining two FPS in my favourite race-sim GT Legends Whats next ?? ...maybe CPU 4.1 ?? ...multiplier 8.5 ?? Thanks for helping Hans.

| Re: E8500 overclock result..so far !! Well, you could stop there, or try to raise the cpu further if you want. If you try to go further, remember that the way to find the optimum overclock is to temporarily relax the memory to very conservative settings, then determine the maximum overclock that you can achieve for the cpu, testing with Prime95 (large FFT mode), then speed up the memory as much as possible, testing with Memtest86+. Regards, -- Al

| Re: E8500 overclock result..so far !! Will give it a try....you mean 5-5-5-15-2T ?? Or lower the DRAM frequency ?? I can sometimes run the MEMTEST without errors for some hours...and get an error in BLEND prime, any idea ?? Hans.
