Congrats TQ, hope all works well.

Yeah I had to order my 64 bit Vista. I use 8gig of Corsair ram. It do make a nice difference with Vista 64.

The only rounds I have that small are .17HMR and .22LR. Anything else I own would make a bigger hole.
'Course that might not be a bad idea.

It sure seems somewhat unreasonable that Ultimate is the only one shipping with a 64-bit disk. I really didn't want Ultimate, though. Too many apps I'd never use.
Oh, well...it just means that I'll have to wait another week or so before I can build this system. Mrs. TQ informed me yesterday that our copy of Business had been placed on backorder. Since I can't order my 64-bit disk until I get my 32-bit disk it looks like this new build is going to take a while.
Good price, though for the "full" version - $130 - so I guess waiting for a bit isn't to high a price to pay.

TQ, I hate to rain on your parade concerning Vista, but I think a recent Microsoft update, is causing problems with OpenGL games, that is causing them to freeze up during a cutscene, like in Neverwinter Nights 2, which displays this problem. People are complaining about this on the Neverwinter Nights 2 forums, thinking it's a game bug, when in fact it's a screwup on Microsoft's part. The freeze up during a cutscene doesn't happen, on WindowsXP, and I can personally confirm that it doesn't happen on WindowsXP. The freeze up happens with patch version 1.10 for Neverwinter Nights 2, which was came out shortly before Mask Of The Betrayer hit store shelves, last fall.

So TQ, you might want to reconsider putting Windows Vista on that machine.

The only one I can think of that I plan to play in the coming months is Team Gizka's re-work of KoTOR II...

I intend to get that rework of KOTOR II myself.

It's currently in final beta testing. Probably will be out in the next month or so.

To get back up to speed I recently replayed KoTOR I and it was as fun as I remember.

I'm not too concerned with an OpenGL bug that affects NWN2 as I'll never play it again. I was utterly bored with "Mask"....I even tried playing it through twice and just lost interest both times and NWN2's endgame was the most stupidly difficult, non-fun I have ever experienced in all my years of gaming.

If you could provide some links I'd like to read up on this. I couldn't find anything regarding at over on the NWN2 forums, but the game is up to 1.13 now, so it may be that something on 1.10 and Vista just didn't play well together.

I get the freezing/lockup issue on Windows Vista 64, but not on Windows XP, which would point to something in Windows Vista being screwed up.

In this link, the original poster has the freezing and locking up happening on a WindowsXP machine. As I said before, if it was the game, this issue would happen to me on WindowsXP also.

Ha! I was, on a whim, just checking the order status of my OCZ over at 2CoolTek.com only to find my order had been canceled!
No email from them informing me of this, no contact, no nothing. This particular OCZ configuration is out of stock everywhere, so it looks like I have to go to another company for RAM.

Welcome to the I got screwed without pleasure club. That website you ordered from has no right to cancel your order, without your say so.

I got to thinking, about that issue with OpenGL games. It's possible that it's a videocard driver bug for Windows Vista, as the issue pops up more when running dual videocards for SLI or Crossfire, or a single card like the 3870X2 or 9800GX 2. For the time being, I'm sticking with WindowsXP, until I see a set of drivers that ultimately fixes that problem.

This could change though too at some point, as I don't play hardly any OpenGL games.

That website you ordered from has no right to cancel your order, without your say so. I got to thinking, about that issue with OpenGL games. It's possible that it's a videocard driver bug for Windows Vista, as the issue pops up more when running dual videocards for SLI or Crossfire, or a single card like the 3870X2 or 9800GX 2. For the time being, I'm sticking with WindowsXP, until I see a set of drivers that ultimately fixes that problem.
