Exclamation My New System!

I have finally decided to do a major upgrade and here is what I have sitting at home, waiting to be assembled:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
ASUS P5E-VM HDMI mATX LGA775 G35 Motherboard
Mushkin EM PC2-6400 4GB (2X2GB) DDR2-800
Gigabyte Radeon HD RX3850
Visiontek TV Wonder 650 Theater PCI-E TV Tuner Card
Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 3.5IN 500GB SATA2 Hard Drive (x2)
Samsung SH-S203B Black SATA DVD Burner
Antec Sonata III 500 Case
Windows Vista Home Premium (Want to Try it)

Understand, I am not a huge gamer nor an overclocker but just wanted (after 3 years!) to have some current tech.

Will change my sig after the build and when I get around to it!

What'cha think?

Re: My New System!

Brian,

I've got two Mushkin HP2 6400 (2X2GB) kits in my system. Just don't go changing the memory to Crucial, I dumped them within the past few weeks.

Re: My New System!

Good luck with the new system, Brian. Sounds nice.

As you may have seen in my "My New Build" thread a couple of months ago, I recently built an E8400/Gigabyte X38 system (which I am overclocking to 3.8gHz), upgrading from a P4 2.8C/Asus P4C800 Deluxe (overclocked to 3.25gHz). For routine uses like web-surfing the new system feels somewhat snappier, but the real difference becomes apparent doing time-consuming cpu intensive things like video editing builds. What was a 3 hour build on the old system, for instance, now takes around 45 or 50 minutes. What was a 1 hour build takes 17 minutes. Amazing!

Regards,
-- Al

Re: My New System!

I have a bunch of parts coming in on Monday that are also built around an E8400. I'm fairly set on Vista Business x64 (I don't need Media Center) but I'm eyeing my free copy of Server 2008 x64 i got at a Microsoft trade event. Trying out a workstation config of 2008 sounds fun but it will come down to how I feel once I get it all together.
