Need Help With New Rig

Hey all, been awhile, i just want to get some opinions on a new rig that i am about to build, just want to know what you guys think about the memory/mobo/video card combo, if they will work well together, also if you think i should go a differnet way.

So far this is what i've ordered, so they can't really be changed:

Mobo: Asus P5LD2 Deluxe: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813131539

Case: Thermaltake Soprano:
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16811133145

Power Supply: Thermaltake R2 W0070 430W:
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16817153023

Things I have not ordered, but will soon, unless you guys think another route is better:

CPU: Intel Pentium D 920:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116237

Video Card: eVGA Geforce 7800GT:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130247

Memory: OCZ Gold Series 2GB (2 x 1GB):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227047

So...What do you guys think? My main concern is, will this memory work well with my setup? I've heard this memory has been able to do a 100mhz increase. Not planning on getting that much out of it, but good to know. I read a review somewhere, can't find it.
Just let me know what you guys think, sorry for all the links, just want to build a soild rig this time around.
Thanks a lot.

Sounds like a nice computer you are going to build. The only thing that I would change is the PSU, as the one you have is only rated at 18A on the 12V rail. I myself look for something in the 30A range but most people can get by with at least 24A on the 12V rail. The RAM should work just fine with your motherboard.

So you think the power supply won't be powerful enough? Which power supply would you recomend? I wouldn't want to spend more then say $100 at the very most.

Newegg has some really good prices on the Enermax PSUs. I'd suggest the 485w model or the 535w model both of which are under $100 last I looked. They have much better 12v rail spex than the Thermaltake PSUs. I own 1 of each and several Thermaltake PSUs and the Enermax' are superior.

Good luck with the new build. Mike.

So you guys are saying most likely, i will need a power supply with dual 12lines? Cause both those power supplys above were rated at 18A.
Also, thanks for all the help, looks like i just need to work on my power supply. I've bought from newegg about 1000 times, but never had to return anything. Can you tell me if you know, is there a 15% restocking fee if i want to return that power supply?

One more thing, i was looking at modular power supplys, i think i might want to go that way, seems like a cleaner install. I really like this one:
http://www.xoxide.com/ultra-x-connect2-uvblue.html
Would you recomend this power supply, or something along those lines?

STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM ULTRA AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN!!!

They are time bombs. The only 1 I have used died and took the MOBO with it. I have seen MANY posts over various forums with similiar results. Many users have reported actual component explosions inside the PSU. Cheap capacitors is my guess.

As to the PSU you need, you don't necessarily need a PSU with dual 12v rails. A PSU with a single solid 12v rail at 36a is as good as a PSU with dual 12v rails at 18a each. However, it's the overall rail current rating you need to be concerned with, especially with the system you have chosen.

Modular is cool allowing for more versatile cable routing and a cleaner case. Enermax has the Liberty models for modular.

No. We do not exchange RMA items for different items. We will only replace an RMA'd item with a different unit of the same item. If the warranty period for a refund has not yet expired, you can request an RMA Refund (subject to 15% restocking fee), order a new item, and we'll refund your original purchase after we receive your returned product.
Also make sure you check whom NE has as a shipper. To get the same quality shipper as ZZF, NE charges a premium that makes them quite a bit higher than ZZF on many items. The more items you order at a time from NE, the faster the shipping charges rise unless you are satisfied with the slow and low cost package crushing, package losing, 6 months to settle claims shipper. The best was when the shipper said no such address and sent the package back when the house was built over 50 years before...Just some thoughts if you are on a budget.

I'm not really sure which power supply i will get, need to do more research, i'm looking at this one: http://www.pcpowercooling.com/produc...view=techspecs
Seems like a good deal, also i've heard pc power and cooling is sapposed to be a really good brand of power supply. Anyone know about that power supply? Can anyone recomend a good power supply for what i need in the 80-150 dollar range?

Okay guys, its in. Looks like i'm either going with this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817194002
or this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817194003
Do you think I should be fine with 400watts as appose to 500?
Forgot to add that i should have 2 hard drives, 1 optical drive, and maybe a floppy. Other then that, just the componets i listed.

Sorry for posting like 4 times in a row, i have some odd habit of doing that, i take peoples links and advice and all that and just go to work, and let u guys know how its goin, lol when no ones around.
But thx for all the help on this matter, more comments about the system would help me out too.

You might get by with the 400W version, but should you want to add a hard drive or and accesories, you might run out of power. I myself would go with the 500W version. The PSU is really the most important compentent of your computer. If you skimp on the PSU to save money, you could end up spending more money should the cheap PSU blow and take all that is connected to it with it.

okay well i talked to newegg, and they said if i just refuse the shipment, they won't charge a 15% restocking fee, and its pretty fast getting back to them and all that. I will look into power supplys more, but it looks like i may be going with that enermax 500w. I could still use some sugestions though on which one to get. Thanks a lot.

Either of the 2 Liberty models are more than sufficient for the hardware you have right now. However, IMO the deciding factor should be is an extra 100w and a more future proof PSU worth $30 or do you really need to save that $30 right now? As I said, either is fine.

Mike.

I will never be buying another Enermax product. They (through a reseller) sold me a 535W SLI power supply that is targeted to the very high end (SLI, BTX, etc). This was the Worst piece of crap i have ever bought. This is a short run down of what was killed by that POS power supply

-2x DFI NF4 Ultra-D
-Asus A8N32-SLI
-Opteron 165
-4x1gb Crucial Ballistix

I dont doubt that it did damage to my video card among other things. I realise that its probably a 1 in a million thing, but i would still warn you that enermax not only has pathetic methods of resolution, but they should have better quality on a power supply, what more does a psu have to do other than supply power and not kill components???

About the warranty, it took over 5 weeks to complete the RMA, which is disgusting, i ended up buying a new one. Also the replacement unit was scratched to hell, the screws look like they used an industrial screw gun to tighten them, as the head is extremely disfigured and there is sticky tape and residue all over the unit. I will never ever support this rediculous outfit again. I suggest you do the same.

The OCZ Modstream i got in replacement is a great unit, it powers my system fine, is silent, looks great and its modular. If you are going for SLI, i would remind you that this PSU isnt sli capable, the PowerStream is what i would go with then.

BTW, you get a "powerswap" warranty with OCZ psu's, so you get an advanced replacement!
