Re: New build on Asus P5Q Pro

Could try using the boot menu on the mobo to select between hdd's.

This has worked for me in the past, not a big fan of putting two OS's on the same hdd.

Re: New build on Asus P5Q Pro

To be on the safe side I usually disconnect the 1st hdd and install the OS on the 2nd. Then I reconnect the first and select which hdd has boot priority in the bios.

Re: New build on Asus P5Q Pro

yamawho to answer your question about 90 percent of games will run on 64bit Vista, those that don't are either too old or use a 16 or 24bit install routine.

I've got a huge pile of 32bit games that run on 64bit Vista.

I'm running 64bit Vista on my machine, and it's the only OS on it.

Re: New build on Asus P5Q Pro

Mass Effect is a decent game, if you take your time, you can finish it in about 30 hours, if you hurry, in about 23 hours.

I finished it in 23 hours the first time, as I went through it in a hurry.

Hi Yamawho

I thought I'd see if there was any update on how your son was getting on with his system? Is it running well?

Just curious, it sounds very nice indeed!

Re: New build on Asus P5Q Pro

No issues ... all is good.

ATI have released better drivers which corrected the fan speed issue on the HD4870.

I'm glad I did all my upgrades in July, our dollar is really low again.

Yamawho

I'm pleased to hear that the system runs well. I've seen conflicting reports for the motherboards - some rave about them some talk about USB and various issues - glad you haven't had any problems. Didn't know about the 4870 fan thing - so that's good to know too.
