I have high doubts that your system would ever draw more than 400 watts and if parts in the future did require that much power, we would have new power standards like we did with the switch from AGP to PCIe which would most likely need a new PSU anyway.

You're making my upgrade nerve itch.

Good to see you pushing the button/pulling the trigger.

Nice soundcard.

Nice HD selection.

I waited for a few weeks to see if the X48 boards, new quad core Penryn's and Nvidia 9000 series cards would come out but I can't wait any longer...I'll just do the EVGA step up when the cards do come out (which I'm sure will be within 90 days)

I still might ditch the P35 board and get the ASUS Maximus Formula (X38 + DDR2) but being that I'm not going to do dual video cards and PCIe 2.0 is pretty much useless now there is no real point for me to go X38...I'm still tempted to get it because the price difference between the Maximus Formula and the P5K Deluxe is not that much

I'm planning on finalizing all my components this weekend and will order everything on Tuesday

good luck with your build trav

I know what you mean. Looks like my build is still three to four weeks out. I'm still thinking of putting my cusl2-c into my empty new Lian Li case while waiting.

It's a nice board, the Maximus Formula. Slightly nicer is the Maximus Formula SE.

not really much of a difference between the "Special Edition" and the standard version...the Maximus Formula Special Edition includes a Northbridge waterblock, just like the Blitz boards did. The non-Special Edition instead relies on a larger heatsink...unless you're planning on overclocking the Northbridge, so there is no sense in paying extra for the Special Edition

looks like this Mushkin kit is a pretty good 4 GB kit...might have to do more research...

Newegg.com - mushkin 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

also the Silverstone TJ10 case looks really nice for my tastes...but the price is ridiculous

That Mushkin memory will fit your needs just fine, low timing and 4gb.

Poly -- Re the case, have you considered the Lian Li A10 series. Below is a link to the silver version, at NewEgg. Performance PC's offers several versions with custom windows, also.

Newegg.com - LIAN LI PC-A10A Silver Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail

Regards,

I like Mushkin, Corsair and OCZ because they have excellent support forums that you can ask questions, receive advice etc...with G. Skill it's very hard to get the same level of support

nice looking case...but as Bruce Wayne said to Lucius Fox in Batman begins in regards to the Batmobile---'does it come in black?'

I prefer simple cases and don't need all the flashy exteriors, flashing lights, windows etc...I'd take a case that has excellent cooling (5 120mm fans) over a hot pink, red LED case any day...that being said I do like the brushed aluminum looks that the Antec, Silverstone and now Lian Li cases seem to have...just a matter of balancing that out with performance, price, interior space, low noise and cooling

Here's the black one, $20 more expensive:

Newegg.com - LIAN LI PC-A10B Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail

Hope that helps,

For most people for most purposes, the E8400 will be faster. I would suggest going with a quad core cpu only if you know that particular applications that are important to you, now or in the foreseeable future, can effectively utilize four cores (and most current applications can not).
