What's your FSBs for those results?? What's your ratio (1:1) (2:3) (4:5)? What strap?? Higher FSB with tighter timings and say a 2:3 ratio would probably be the best as that would force the RAM to run at higher speeds. But I doubt you'll get ANY Ram at Cas 3 when you get it into the range of 400actual ram speed----lets just call it DDR More likely 4-4-4-12-2T-----and 5-5-5-15 when you start hitting say 550 DDR

FSB 1556 = True FSB of 389 Means your running 389 x Multi 9 with an E6600 1:1 means you are running 533 strap 778 / 2 = memory speed of 389 DDR You could probably run the RAM much faster at a ratio of 2:3 (1066 Strap) but with less tighter settings maybe 4-4-4-12-2T or 5-5-5-15-2T Here's the long way to compute it... At 2:3 Ratio---Actual Ram Speed = FSB 389 x 2---/2----x 3----/2 Or 389 x 2 = 718 718 / 2=389 389 x 3 = 1167 1167/ 2 = 583DDR versus the 389 DDR you are running now.... Ram Voltage needs to be at 2.2 or a shade better Clear as mud??

| Maybe ----depends on your case and air flow-----you don't want the ram hot to the touch-----warm is prpbably fine Run memtest for 2-3 hours----if it passes without errors.... and you don't anticipate large changes in ambient temp in the room you will place your computer----you are probably fine. you could also lower the multi to 8x or 7x----raise the FSB and go to a 4:5 Ratio (667 Strap) Might get you the same CPU overclock with a little less stress on the RAM. 583 mghz is pretty good....

| Little problems to figure this out..4:5 ratio. This is what I see BIOS: CPU Freq. 3501.2 Multiplier 9X FSB-Mem >> UNLINKED RATIO >> auto FSB 1556 Mem 1167 So I have to change the multiplier say X8..what to change to get 4:5 If I change the multiplier I have to raise the FSB to get 3.5 again, so far I can follow Thanks !! Hansje.

| CPU Freq. 3501.2 Multiplier 9X FSB-Mem >> UNLINKED RATIO >> auto FSB 1556 Mem 1167 Did some testing with 1.42 Vcore and 2.250 Mem.volt. (thats what I need to get it stable without errors) So I am able to stay below the 2.3 Mem.volt Two hours of Mem/test...NO ERRORS Test 5 I did 5 times...NO ERRORS New, so the latest OCCT, for one hour (CPU/Mem-test)...NO ERRORS OCCT Website english Forgot, highest TEMP. during this test 57C..after that IDLE 41C..any good ?? 3Dmark several times 06 version...NO ERRORS So far so good Hans.

FSB x 2 = 876 876 /4 = 219 219 x 5 = 1095 1095 /2 = 547.5 (let's round up to 548) True mghtz memory speed And with that speed you may be able to relax your voltage----as well as tighten the timings back to 4-4-4-12-2T 667 strap would give you the 4:5 ratio there is no "right" anser to this hansje----what you want is the Highest FSB that your CPU will run stable with stable RAM settings at the tightest timings..... There is an old rule of thumb though----always go for the highest CPU overclock----then consider what must be done to overclock your RAM. The latest craze with DDR2 and the Core2 Duos is to NOT run syncronously like the old days with Northwood Intel P4s where 1:1 ratio PAT and GAT gave you (usually) the best benches Instead to run asynchchronously with a ratio that permits the RAM to run FASTER than the CPU----hence the change from 2:3 ratios vice the old days of 3:2 where your Ram ran SLOWER than spec----same with 4:5 and the old 5:4.

| 3.5 CPU with 1.42 Vcore is the highest I get...so only overclocking the CPU. (leaving the RAM out of it) 3.6 seems a NO NO, but I am happy with 3.5 stable I will give that 4:5 ratio a try and try 4-4-4-12-2T. THANKS !!!!! Hans ![]()
