I have a Celeron 600 cCo overclocked to 1008MHz at 1.9V when I first got it, but now at 2.05V max voltage limit. What has happened to the chip?

Yeah I agree with CrazyIvan, please tell us why you want to up the voltage to 2.05v. Mostly if anything you can lower the voltage after some time.

Oh dear I think you may be at the "medium rare" stage with your CPU (unless your cooling is worse for some reason). There is a process called electron migration , honest ! . I don't remember it too well but this may explain your problem.

It was stable at 1GHz at 112MHz FSB, 1.9V but now anything under 2.05V will not boot into windows, only blue screen. I thought about electron migration but I didn't think It could happen after only two months of use. I may have pushed the chip too hard. Oh well,
I could still do 900@1.75V and 945@1.80V. I used to get both speed at default voltage. Thank you all.

Heatsink used: ALPHA FC-PAL35T & SUNON 26 CFM FAN.

If this happened after you re-install the cpu and HSF,check if cpu sit properly and check the HSF to make a perfect contact.
Also if room temp was lower than now,it`s a temp problem.

Cool

I have just gone from a cellery 600@900 1.5v @1.7v to the 600 cC0 . this new chip i cant get any higher than 965mhz @1.95v and only on warm boot, runs very warm ..

Im amazed how people can get them higher. I am now running @ 945mhz 1.85v with no probs.

Cranorm, Are you using the Delta 38 cfm fan, if not then you should consider getting this super loud, super effective fan. It really make a big different.

Cranorm, you are using a much better Alpha heatsink than I do, but one thing I gotta tell you is that if there are plastic feet on your heatsink. Take the slotket or the motherboard out and check under a light to make sure there is a good contact between the cpu and the heatsink, also remove thermal paste for a better observation. If you haven't done this then you should really consider it because from my past experience, I didn't believe how much gap there were between the heatsink and cpu. Good luck to you.
