| Whats Intel ViiV Whats viiv technology. I know its on board the intel MBs. And it helps with HD playback etc. But how does one use it. Is there something that needs to be installed (Hardware / Software) ? Or is it just an inbuilt feature which provides acceleration on its own. I read most of the docs on the intel site but couldnt understand anything other than what ive stated above. Hope someone can chime in and explain a lil. Thanks. |

| Re: Whats Intel ViiV Jaketerminate > I read your link. I couldnt understand anything. I mean theres wasnt anything practically discussing its features. They are talking more about their business angles on the product and all i could make out this was something that helps drm work and whatever and how all this benefits mircrosoft & intel. Whos bothered about how 'they' benefit out of this technology. But all in all i think its more a subject of protocols and how it allows this and doesnt allow that etc. I doubt anything was said if it accelerates graphics or Hd. | Re: Whats Intel ViiV Viiv was Intel's idea of gathering several technologies and packaging them as a media center sort of thing. The way Windows Media Center handles the software side of playing various types of media, Viiv was a kind of hardware version of that (it did have a software component also). You won't see Viiv mentioned much anymore since it seems to be a dead project. Ever since the runaway success of the Core 2 processors, Intel doesn't really need to worry much about media hardware.
