| Just curious to know how many people are like me: still running an old S478 Pentium 4 computer as their main system and also what is the reason you haven't yet upgraded to the latest and greatest? ![]()

| Re: Who is still running a S478 Pentium 4 system as their primary rig? I have a few rigs powered by Asus P4C800e Deluxe mobos. I mostly use a system with a Intel Celeron D 420 cpu these days, does what I need.

| Re: Who is still running a S478 Pentium 4 system as their primary rig? I'm running an Asus P4PE-X, 2.53Ghz P4, 1GB DDR400 Ram, 7600GT AGP 8x, and the Asus Xonar DX. My original Motherboard was flakey, so I upgraded the Motherboard, videocard, and the soundcard. this will last me for awhile. I'm been working on a very large modding project for 3-4 years now and when I'm done that is going to be my new rig. ![]() |

| Re: Who is still running a S478 Pentium 4 system as their primary rig? My main rig isn't, but 2 of my kids are and my work rig is.... Funny I should use the CD2 for work, but the old D875PBZ just sits quiet and cool in the corner as it grinds along.

| Re: Who is still running a S478 Pentium 4 system as their primary rig? My P4C800 Deluxe/P4-2.8C system was recently replaced as my main rig by the new build described in my profile. But the older system works as well as ever, and I still use it frequently for lots of things, including video editing. I also have a five year old Sager laptop, that uses a desktop P4-2.8B socket 478 cpu. Still runs fine, although I recently added a more portable Asus C2D laptop (the Sager weighs about 13 pounds!). My wife mainly uses a seven year old Dell, which is also still going strong, and which she is happy with. She'll get the new main rig when I do my next build, which I'll do either when I get the urge or when the Dell gives out, whichever comes first. -- Al

| Re: Who is still running a S478 Pentium 4 system as their primary rig? Still running my P4 system here. Besides gaming there is really no need to upgrade it. Also I do not game on my primary machine anymore. Heck I still have a P4 system that I game on, even though it will be retired this fall for a Core 2 w/SLi. Ok it won't be retired it'll be handed down to the children.

| Re: Who is still running a S478 Pentium 4 system as their primary rig? I guess you could call it my main second system, it's in my bedroom and my kid uses it more than me. When my wife has her friends over I'll go and hibernate with the old P4 because my main PC is hooked up to my TV in the living room, of course I can control my main PC remotely from the old P4.![]() Some Asus motherboard with crappy VIA chipset and 2.8MHz 533FSB non HT processor. |

| Re: Who is still running a S478 Pentium 4 system as their primary rig? I'm still running a P4 3.4c (30 capper) @ 3.54 GHz on a v.205 D875PBZ in my main computer. I likely won't consider a big upgrade until this motherboard dies and it becomes impossible to pick up another D875PBZ. My computer is a productivity tool now more than ever though. Computing has become much less of an active hobby for me nowadays, though I still keep my systems maintained and keep in the know on the technology. I've got plenty else to do and I've got a bunch of older games I can play on this hardware. My 7950GT AGP with this hardware still packs a decent punch even on some of the newest games. BJB
