I currently have a 2034-step QMD that's worth only 125 points. What's with that? It's choked my machine for days...

I had a 125 point QMD folding on my machine yesterday. Each frame was completing in 5 minutes.

How long is each frame taking on your machine?

No more 600 pointers for me either.

I've gotten 239, 305, 450, & 364 point proteins instead.

QMDs are new proteins released by Stanford which have point values of 125 and 450 points. From what I read, they are only being sent to Intel SSE2 supported systems right now.

These proteins fold fast since they take advantage of SSE2. They use up around 200K of memory. You need to add -advmethods to your shortcut to get one of these downloaded to your system.

Looks like something was stuck on that unit. I deleted it and got a 450-pointer that is now cruising along fine. 2092 steps, but the time per frame is a lot longer than yours -- 35 minutes, I think. Maybe that's why it's worth more points than the last?

I thought that awhile back it was stated that the -advmethods didn't need to be used anymore? Can someone confirm or deny that?

Sorry to hear that. Though I like not having to watch my back to see if you've over-taken me, this certainly hurts the cause and no doubt frustrates you to no end. Good luck getting things rock solid again!

thanks, just started, no real reason as to why, but my under load temps had risen 7C, thought it was a bad HDD (did have one) that wasn't it i guess.

anyway, i dropped my cpu clock and am testing higher ram clocks now

I seem to recall reading that somewhere else. Like on the stanford forums maybe.

I read this on the Stanford forums. The server checks to see if -advmethods , big proteins are enabled, and your system has sufficient memory to fold these proteins.

They are working on a new folding client to enable/disable QMD proteins from being sent to our machines.
