Post Eastms.edu *news*

Decided to make a post just to keep you guys up to date, instead of putting info like this in the Toot your horn topic.

We're adding ~117 2.8 dual core machines. 37 soon and another 80 within next 3 months

You guys are awesome

Are these additional machines or replacements for existing single core machines?

Thanks, we're just trying to help...

I meant to say about where these were going... most are going to replace, for now anyway, replacing 1.3 celery's ( about 75 or so ) but those will probably be handed out to classrooms or something.. of course we'll keep some for parts since those are out of warranty

Wow are you all trying to take over the number 1 user spot? Considering last time I checked you all were ranked 2nd in overall production.

I think it's fitting you guys have your own thread...

That's a nice upgrade to those rigs for sure...even using just one of those two cores will give a nice little boost...

Great news!!

Yea, we're currently #1 in output. But i'm hoping after we get all these dual cores up we'll grab #1 in 3-4 months... but thats wishful thinking

Just curious what is going on. As to why very little activity is going on. Although my bet is maintance and repair on the infrastructure seeing as how school for the most part is out.

yea, we had a power outtage over the weekend and most of our computer labs arent used during the summer. So the power dropped and the computers are set to remain off.. When i get a chance i'll make the loops and turn them back on, i'm guessing about 150+ are off at the moment, and thats just my campus I cant answer for sb28
