100% is good!

As long as folding is running, you should see 100% cpu usage. Because it runs at a low priority, it won't affect any other programs - the computer will feel just as fast. Basically, folding uses up all your spare CPU cycles up to 100%.

Running it as a service just puts it in the background so you don't have to have a console window open or manually stop/start it. It will still use the same cpu resources.

Not really. It will certainly give errors due to overclocking, but nothing beats prime 95 for true stability testing.

Lets just put it like this.

IF you want to test maximum @ load temperature of your rig, there really isnt anything better than folding gromacs.

I have found that it's the best test in the world to determin what your maximum temperature is going to be. Exactly, the highest temp I have ever seen was due to folding. Not even running UT2k3 my temps wont go any higher than folding. To me thats a great measure..

I'm pretty sure prime 95 and seti will give you the same (or very close) max temp. They do on my machines anyway - just need to occupy 100% of the cpu.

Any way I could get two names merged or whatever? I've folded on maynard_mcguffin and an_ugly_sob, so my WU's are split up. Now I run all my machines under the name an_Ugly_SOB. If they can't be, no biggie.

That was one of the main differences I noticed when I switched over to folding from seti. The Seti system does a much better job keeping track of inidivual users. I guess what's nice about Folding is that you can more easily form subteams, but I prefer the seti system.

Yeah, it would be even better if we can move our SETI points to folding@home.
