| I will be down for a while... One or both of my rigs will be down for a while. I might fold part time on my P4C800. The other rig is down. I'm searching for an Adaptec Embedded Sata Hostraid controller driver for WinXP Pro X64. I did get into contact with Iwill USA by phone and they said they will have to get in contact with Iwill Taiwan for further information. They will give me an update on Friday. It seems that Adaptec doesn't release drivers for embedded hostraid controllers. It's up to the mb manufacturers to get the drivers updated by contacting Adaptec. What a pain in the back end. Be back soon. Cheers

| Have you considered the Addonics sata controller using the SI3114 chipset? It is compatible with XP32 and XP64. Here's a description of the controller: http://www.addonics.com/products/hos...er/adst114.asp Here's the pricing information on Addonics webstore: http://www.shopaddonics.com/Itemdesc.asp?CartId={ECB385EB-738E-4EVEREST6F8-9E19-5B3C95A56470}&ic=ADST114 You can get it from other online stores. I've been using this card since I started dual-booting with XP32 and XP64. It has worked great for both operating systems. Hope you're back online soon full-time. ![]()

| OK I'm back up. I gave up on the sata raid x64 drivers. I just went ahead and reconfigured for regular sata use in the bios. Bummer. Anyway, I've already loaded WinXP 64 on my DH800. It's working just fine. I have to find sound drivers next. Bad news. The other rig has a bad mem stick. This is going to be the second time I have to return a set of ram back to PDP. I think I will go either Geil or OCZ.Cheers

| SoundMax ad1980 onboard sound w/64 bit drivers installed. Found them over at Iwill's website under another motherboard type. Also, I had a nasty surprise this evening. My P4C800 kept on getting stop errors. So I ran memtest86 OCZ w/all 4 banks filled and got errors on the last test. Well, I ran the test again w/ only 1 stick at a time and no errors. So, I put all 4 back in and started folding again. BAM!! Stop error 0x000000c5..... It said to run driver verifier. Didn't get that far. The only thing I saw next was "no video input signal" :bigcry: :bigcry: So...R.I.P. 9800 pro :bigcry: You will be missed. Cheers

| This is bad. I'm having computer withdrawl symptoms. I'm up late at night. Can't sleep. I'm over stressed. I can't believe my ATI 9800p is dead. I'm always thinking about folding I need a fix...computer parts ...and I'll be glad when my rig will be back up and running again Cheers ![]()

| Well..there is hope. I got it up from the grave this evening! The question is..for how long? I did some further testing and discovered it very well could be the memory controller on the P4C800. Bank "A" works just fine, but if I populate bank "B"...bingo...problem. Be back with an update after a few more tests.Cheers

| Yeh Ozzie...It's a good board. It's just "things" started to happen. Mainly memory problems as of yesterday afternoon. It was really weird. I was folding and all of a sudden bsod - stop error - which indicated a memory problem. So, I ran memtest86 OCZ w/ all banks populated. Somewhere around test number 6, it hit 98% and bam .... it just streamed errors. Well, I ran each stick separately. All was fine. Again, started to fold. Folding is the best way to stress a system. Again, the system bsod and no video. I thought my video was gone. This evening I've got the rig up again w/ 1 bank filled and everything is running fine. So, I thought "self why not populate the other bank." I pushed the ram all the way in. It snaped in nice 'n tight. The rig booted up again with no problems so far. I'm running 2 QMDs. Hopefully, I won't have any more problems. Could it be that one of the ram stick sort of "popped" out of place just a little to cause a problem eventhough it's still in the retaining bracket? Cheers

| In the days of rdram if you started changing things around much it was recommended by ASUS to do a hard cmos reset. This was due to voltage instabilities. Even then it was common for it to take a few days to settle down. I haven't heard much of this idea for a while, but it does make one stop and wonder...possilby let things settle for a day or two. A stick not having a good seat is certainly not out of the question. I don't know why your situation started up, but I have noticed an increase in system instability since the newer model of folding proteins started coming out. They seem to put more strain on a system for sure. I agree that folding these days is a very good test of stability...and if there is anyone left that believes in burn in, folding definitely helps.

| I usually get the same QMDs on the p4c800. They are either 1910,1911, or 1912. I fold 1912's 90% of the time. Tell you what. I did a new install of WinXP Pro X64 and wow what a difference. That was on my DH800. The only driver that I'm missing is the Adaptec embedded sata hostraid controller driver. Since x64 doesn't have it and Adaptec/Iwill doesn't have it out yet, I've installed it on regular sata. So far no problems..... Zone Alarm and Nero 5.5 doesn't work.... Cheers

| I have used Nero6 on XP X64 and have not had any problems. For antivirus, you can Avast or nod32. I have tried both Avast personal and professional versions. Both work fine for me. There are no firewall programs available yet that are compatible with XP X64. You'll have to use the built XP firewall for now.

| My production is going down. My main computer just isn't stable with 2 instances running. I have run Prime for a day and no problems. I think that I have tracked down the problem to something to do with high amounts of network traffic while folding is running.
