Smile Alpha Pep66

Does the alpha pep66 with ys tech fan fit the cusl2c board? Any problems with installation?

What are the typical idle-load temps with this hsf for a c600@1g+?

Alpha Pep 66

You may have to do the following Mod..........it is very easy. I did it with a Sunun 60mm on top exhausting and a 10mm on side blowing in

Thanks man. I have a c600@1053. I had a soyo that went kaput just a few days ago. Bought a cusl2-c found the temps horrible and returned for an epox bx6. Now I found out the temps in the initial bios release were not too accurate. I trying to see if I can return the epox and get the cusl2-c again. Meanwhile my alpha arrived adding another point for consideration.

Dear Mr Bite,
Notice that you have the larger fan sucking, is that because when you fit the 10mm on the side it becomes a restriction for the more effective blowing setup ?. Curious as I am likely to do the same shortly to my modded PEP66. Also where did you get the 10mm dan?

After reading a number of posts I came to agree with the concensus that sucking air off the sink is more effective than blowing and as you will see the fan as supplied with the h/s is set up to suck not blow. I felt that a greater benefit may be gotten by also creating more air flow over the sink by added another fan hence the 10mm. The 10mm was mandated by the space restriction of the case and psu. I bought it at

Interesting, Alpha themselves recommend blowing onto heatsink and I found the same, maybe something to do with an 80mm supply fan on the lefthand side of my case supplying a steady stream of ambient air onto the PEP fan.

So my dilemma is, if I fit an additional 10mm fan onto the side of the PEP it is likely to be a restriction if I keep the original Sunon blowing onto the sink as recommended.

I guess I'll just have to try a few permutations to find the best solution.

I used the same setup Blowing on and Suckin out on my 667 over 6 months ago and found that to be most effective. Here is a Pic of it on my web page.

Note this setup is as Jaco described it. I later changed it to the one I described and found it a degree or two lower. It wasn't effective however for my 1Ghz!!! No combo I had could cool that hot head. I later bought a CAK 38 and it IS effective at keeping my temps under 42C. The fan was too noisy for me so I used a 60>80 fanadptor and a 47CFM fan to do what the LOUD fan was capable of!!
