Hello everybody. I am reading many of you getting CPU temperatures about 35c. I am playing with my Celeron566 1.80V (up to 900 and more), but i cant get temperature under 45c. I was trying original Intel cooler and GoldenOrb, and with thermal compound. Am i doing something wrong? Can i go lower temp. without using peltier? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Stick an Alpha on it and you might see 40C or less if your case is well vented. I don't think anyone is really seeing much less (overclocked) than 40C at full load with air cooling, unless they are in the snow belt and they have their computer outside! I'm running a PIII700@1015 with Alpha pal35 and my maximum temp is 41C.

Well, looks like your best bet is with the Golden Orb. Did you try lapping it? Another thing, can you get Arctic Silver thermal compound? If not, just use the thermal compound you have and make sure your system is well ventilated. Try adding a fan blowing directly over your cpu and make sure you have good exhaust fans!

Thanks, Koolstone, for help! (also your reply in Ambrzyk thread). I investigated my GoldenOrb and realized that in fixed position its position is not flat horizontal as it should be. It was because those 2 metalic fixing rails (sorry my poor english) was not the same height. I adjusted one, bending a bit with screwdriver.
Now i got CPU temperature about 39-41 celsium. Still not ideal, but already better than Intel original cooler results, and now i see the way to go :-)
(and where the Hell i can get that Arctic Silver thermal compound? I use some noname right now...)

That's good. Did you check with the instructions that came with the Golden Orb the correct position to install the Orb? I just wanted to make sure that you didn't messed it up. The temperatures are good and should be better than the Intel cooler. Other than that, good O/C!
