| Re: Corsair Power Supply Configurator Re the earlier discussion in this thread of current requirements, X-Bit Labs just published a power supply review in which they measured the actual currents drawn by a representative recent system (that included 4 hdd's, an E6850, a P5E mobo, 4 gB RAM, a Radeon HD 3870, and an optical drive). Worst case results among several test conditions occurred while running 3DMark'06 (which required considerably more power than Prime95, due to the greater graphics card workload). The bottom line worst case was a total of 210.9W across all of the DC output voltages, with only 14A being required from the 12V supply. | Re: Corsair Power Supply Configurator I was considering dropping to a 80Plus power supply at 450W. Decided to just keep the Antec Neo 550. I am going to move to a P45 chipset board, a lower-powered ATI 4850, the low power VelociRaptor, 2 sticks of DDR3, and a new revision Penryn with better power management. I plan on sticking this all in an Antec 300 case with 2 or 3 120mm fans plus a 140mm fan. |
