first PSU failure The PSU in my main rig kicked the bucket today. It is the only PSU to fail on me so far. I don't think I can complain too much though. It has been in my main rig for at least 3 years which has run 24/7 most of that time. It was squealing for a long time but I thought it was the MB. Now I need a new one. It must be modular. Something in the 650w range should be good enough. I don't plan on using 2+ video cards or anything like the 4870 X2.

Re: first PSU failure I was just looking at those. I wonder what the difference is between these two. Other than the obvious 30w difference... Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more! BTW, The system runs fine thank goodness. I took a PSU from another system to test it.

| Re: first PSU failure The HX650 is a newer model. Is it better? I found this thread asking the same questions. HX620 review from 2006. The HX 620 is made by Seasonic. I can't find a good review on the HX650 as its so new. It looks to be made by Seasonic or CWT. Both good companies. I would guess the 650 will replace the 620. The 650 has a 7 year warranty the 620 is 5 years. The 650 is slighty more effiecent than the 620. Newegg sure has a nice price after rebate on the 650. If rebates are not your thing they are the same price. IMO get the 650.

Re: first PSU failure Got the PSU today. It works great and is pretty quiet. I don't think the other one made much noise either until it started squeeling. The only thing I'm not thilled with is the power cables. I think I'm going to see if I can get the other ones to work by changing out the connecters.

Re: first PSU failure They are stiff compared to my old ones. There are 4 SATA connections on each of the 2 SATA cables. My old ones had 2-3 on each and there was more than two cables. I had ones of them hanging out the back of the case incase I needed to hook another drive up. They don't seem to look as nice either.
