Anybody ever given thought to serious refridgeration?
I keep looking at my little Magic Chef beer fridge and the Coleman thermal cooler...
Not big enough to put the whole case inside but plenty of room for everything inside the 'puter.
The rails and rack system inside the case looks easy enough to transfer inside one of these.
Starting to get some ideas... really bad ideas... inventory the power tools and taking measurements.
Power supply will fit nicely inside the little freezer compartment.....

I've also got a little fridge and I have to say - I've thought about it too!!

The only problem with that is at some point the cold and warm air meet.

The neighbors already think I'm nuts....

yea if you were to chill the whole mobo, you would either have to coat the entire thing in silicone, or submerge it in a non conductive and corrosive liquid like an oil. otherwise once the temp reaches due point, your entire board is covered in beads of water.. not good :X

its simpole really.. you dont need your mobo chilled. just some select and small chips...

Seal the fridge (airtight) & fill w/dry nitrogen to .1 psi over local air pressure! No air, therefore no water vapor & no condensation! Did I really just write that?OHMYGAWDIMGOINGINSANE!!!

Hey, thanks Ozzie!

Being reminded of skiing in the summer never bugs me. Besides, I'm beginning to see some progress with my rebuilt knee! I'm enjoying being off work, too. As soon as I can drag my rig out from under my desk, I'm going to start installing some new cooling parts (Gladiator w/92-60 adapter, chipset heatsinks, thermal paste on the greenie, etc). It's REALLY NICE to be able to play with my computers "full-time"!

I`ve thought many times to put the mobo in a freezer or use chilled water to a watercooled peltier or making my own "vapochill case".
Infact, I worked on the last but I gave up too early!!!
Then,I start get "logical" again.
It`s a nice idea(the freezer),if only there was a brave enough(nuts) to do it!!!!! I like it!

Hey Ozzie, don`t afraid of the neighbours, they put their cat in the freezer!Ohh,really do they?

Talking

I once saw pictures of a home made "case". The guy had an insulated box filled with vegetable oil and he then pumped up the oil, cooled it to freezing temperatures and poured it back over the board!

He achieved some pretty nice temps, but reported that cleaning the board was a drag LOL

I'd post the link, but it doesn't work anymore :o(

yea, I read about a simular attempt where only the solid state stuff like the mobo/cards where set into the bottem of a styrofom box, filled it with oil (miniral? Vegi?) and then placed a grill over it, pumping the oil over the grill and back onto the board. I dont seem to recall any frigid agents working here... so I think he said at periods of load, the solution would still get to hot.
