Is this a good PSU?

I found this PSU for a good price and as I don't know how much Amps you need and so on. I would be gratefull if someone could strainghten it out for me?!

By the way, it's suposed to power my two new DiamondMax10 250GB a DVD-burner the CPU and a future upgrade to a new power-hungry GPU. Not to forget my 4x120mm papst fans

I'm in the process of building a "silent" PC... That's one of the reasons I'm getting this one it's got a 120mm fan at 14db

For AMD cpus. Separate 12v rails are much better.

You'd have one 12v rail just for the cpu and another 12v rail for HDs and fans.

Here are some reviews of Hiper PSU's. None of the reviews were negative, but none were overly enthusiastic either.

http://www.3dvelocity.com/reviews/hi...e-r/type-r.htm
http://www.hexus.net/content/reviews...lld19JRD03NzQ=
http://www.bit-tech.net/review/356/

Since you live in Europe, you might also want to look at the Tagan 480W. I heard it's a pretty good PSU.

P.S. I'm going to move thread to the Cases, PSU's & Mods section.

I read the reviews and noticed a lack of PCI-X suport, what does that mean, That I can't use a PCI-X GPU??
As for the the Tagan it's way to expencive for my taste (37% more)..

PCI-X or PCI Express? The two are different. PCI-X is used on server boards. If you meant PCI Express, then lack of support would mean you couldn't run PCIe graphics cards.

It' lacks suport for PCI-Express, isn't there a way around that, some kind of adapter?? I'm planing on using this PSU for the next 2-3years!

EDIT!

I found the adapter so there isn't going to be a problem!

Yes, you can buy adapters. You'll need them for the ATX connector and possibly the video card. But that just adds to your cost. I'm surprised the Tagan costs a lot in Europe. Here in the US, I've seen the 480W PSU for as low as $73.

I won't be needing any adapter right now, that's just to be safe for future upgrades.

Whell 73$ is cheap, that's 490kr. A Tagan costs 1100kr here and the one I ordered costs 690kr. The $ is quite cheap now so that's why it's such a difference..

Great to hear from someone with first hand experience... The thing that wories me now is the noise.. I'm going for a as silent PC as posible.. I'm getting 3xpapst 120mm at 26db and a Zalman 7700Cu with 120mm so I don't want the PSU to be the loudest component. I know it's suposed to be 14db but the reviews say that's a bit off, what do you think??

It's good....thing is though there is a little clicking...you can only just hear it when you move up to the psu itself....it wasn't doing it when i first installed it, so i might give it a knock or something, see if it discontinues. There is also another thing, there is an extreme amount of heat coming out of the back of the psu....i would rather it be cooler as then i'll know its cooler inside but i am guessing its because of the 120mm fan that is directly above my cpu. It's just dragging in the heat and adding to the heat being generated from the psu.

So I might reverse my air flow, have the 2 rear fans blowing in, the cpu fan pulling air into the cpu rather than blowing onto it, side fan pulling out the heat (as i have a cpu fan airduct which is close to that fan, so it'll be directed straight out. and the front 120mm fan blowing out, might make all the difference. I will give it a try and let you know the outcome

but it seems fine in all other areas

Do you think it's noisy, can you hear it with all your other fans runing??
