| Ordered a thunderbird system I know I shouldn't be posting this because it is not an Asus board but this question is general to all motherboards and the people on this board really seem to know what they're talking about. I will be building a 1.2 Ghz system for my dad. I ordered an Epox 8KTA3. A fully configured system came out to $670 w/o monitor, and that is why I didn't go Intel. Well anyway, can someone please tell me how to apply the thermal grease. I have never done it before as I am using the Retail Intel heatsink which comes with a thermal pad. I will be using a Volcano II heatsink. Thanks!!!

| Clean off the thermal pad that comes with heatsink with alcohol. Go easy so as not to scratch the surface. Read this link on how to apply thermol paste. http://www.arcticsilver.com/ |

| DS - skull is right, i did prety mch the same thing, cept i went a sep further and sanded the surface down to get a 'flatter' surface. this is not required, except by anal ppl i am using a tt volcano II as well...nice little HSF have you tried out the HSF yet? i remember someone saying that they 'mis-stated' the fans true speed on the website, that it actually was slower, and moved less air..however, mine runs at ~4800rpm, and seems to be moving a lot....i can't really measure CFM here cryogen
