Re: what happened to my pc?

hello and welcome. Sounds like either a power supply or motherboard went bad. Unfortunately, the only way to test either is by trial and error. Do you have another power supply you could borrow from a friend?

Re: what happened to my pc?

Does it restart right away when you turn the pc on or does it restart after the windows boot screen?

Re: what happened to my pc?

If it restarts when it hits the windows screen it could be a driver or software problem. What are you using to get into dos?

Re: what happened to my pc?

You tried a new power supply so you ruled that out. I would check to make sure you cpu fan is running and looks clean. If your running more them one stick of memory try one at a time. Also remove any other pci cards too.

Re: what happened to my pc?

And disconnect the hard drive also. If it still restarts when you boot to dos, with all those things removed (and with the memory sticks having been tried one at a time), and assuming you have confidence in the boot disk from previous use, then it would seem that the mobo is probably the culprit.

Re: what happened to my pc?

wow! the re-starting problem's solve. i've just remove one SDRAM. looks like one memory slot is busted. but there is a message in the CMOS/BIOS display when i turn the pc on it says " <BIOS:>BIOS update data incorrect. CPUID=0000F27"

what does it mean?

Re: what happened to my pc?

Try restarting again and see if it still says that. If it does, you may have to go into the bios settings and re-enter them (or reset to defaults if that is how you had been running).
