| You all talk about idle and load temps ... but what are those temps ? Ive got this readings with MBM 5 : ( idle ? ) with windows ME doing nothing 31º C ( min. ) ( load ?) with windows ME after running 3DMark 2001 58º C ( max. ) Are those temps ok , or are they too hot !? I think that the Golden Orb is not thaking advantage of the Arctic Silver II, because when the Orb is installed it must be tweasted and the termic paste is not well spread on the cpu core ... Is there any cooler (not too expensive) that can be installed without tweasting and isn't so dificult to put on and take off as the generic Intel coolers ?! Thanks.

| Idle is just fine but I would say that your full load temp is a bit high. Mine runs around 45 when fully loaded. Might be what you said about the thermal paste not being applied correctly. That is not an easy process but it has to be done with care. Look at other post in the "Cooling" section, you'll probably find an answer to your question. All of posts have links to all sorts of coolers and heatsinks. Good luck.

| Yeah you could reapply the thermal paste but remember every cpu is different. If your system is stable than it is mostly fine I had an gorb, there is only one way to put them on right, otherwise the round sink part that should tough the cpu is resting on your socket, and it wont make good contact with the cpu surface. grtz Asha

| You`re lucky with your G-orb. It`s not a good one,you know.You should have arround 47C at a 23 ambient in a stockHSF. Replace it by another better one-I can`t recommend one,see related threads |

| Whenever u put a "DELTA" on any HS its going to be loud ok. I don't have the DELTA plugged unto MOBO cause it draws too much power from mobo thus creating more heat and instability. I use a 3pin to 4 pin molex adapter for PS. I soundproofed my case too. I can still hear the whinning of the fan but, not unbearable considering i have the tv, ceiling fan, window fan on all the time its hardly noticeable. Plus i use a ducted pvc mod as well so i don't have a problem with noise as others do. |
