A64 CPU upgrade

The price on the 3700+ has come down drastically (only $99 on Newegg), and I believe I could benefit from the 1MB cache on this processor. Anyway, Newegg actually has TWO different versions of this CPU, but I'm not sure what the difference is. The model #s are ADA3700BNBOX and ADA3700CFBOX.

Please see the following link for a comparison chart:

Link

The only difference I can see from the chart is that one specifies a core voltage of 1.35 and one specifies 1.35/1.4 ... not sure if this actually makes a difference. Could it be a difference in stepping, and if so does anyone know which is more recent?

Well, I'm not a big multi-tasker. My PC's main focus is gaming, and most games these days cannot make use of the dual core. Therefore, I don't think this would be a wise investment for me.

On the other hand, a higher stock clock speed and higher possible multiplier (for OCing purposes), as well as 1MB cache would most likely give me a noticable performance increase.

Anyway, my question still stands ... can anyone tell me the difference between the two 3700+ models listed in the link above?

Looks like the only difference is the stepping, which may provide higher overclocks. Really can't say though.

I just read on another forum that the 3700+s with E4 stepping have been OCing higher, but that the E6s run a bit cooler.

I do plan to OC, but only slightly (maybe 2.4GHz) ... I'm torn

For another $36 you get an A64 4000+ w/1MB L2 @2.4GHz - if you are going s939, might as well go more to the higher end. Get 2GB of DDR if you can, since you are gaming - games are getting pretty fat!
