AMD FX-60 driver ?

could someone please tell me where I can get a more uptodate drivers for the FX-60. I went to
http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/...1_9706,00.html

and the date for the driver is May 2005 !!!!!!!!thats almost a year old. Did they even have drivers for the FX-60 back then or were they for the fx-57.

also is it neccessary to install quiet and cool drivers. what do they do ?

As I understand it you do not need a processor driver for any AMD64/FX when running XP 32bit/64bit or 2003 server unless you want Cool n Quiet.
Cool n Quiet when enabled allows the cpu clock speed to vary by cpu load like laptops do and also vary cpu fan speed by load if needed.

If you want to run Cool n Quiet enable it in the bios, install the driver for your OS if needed. XP 32bit w/sp2 has it built in if I remember correctly. Reboot then in power options properties change the power scheme to portable/laptop. I do not enable fan control in the bios because I use Speedfan to control fan speeds.

You can use a program like CPUZ to check cpu speeds.

I find that Cool n Quiet lowers the temp in my office by several degrees F without adversely affecting performance. Some games do not like it though.

For any defined ACPI 2.0 functions the driver can be used. In other words, even if CnQ is not installed the driver should be installed. To note, not all drivers have to be updated. ACPI power management and thermal control are many layers in a system. Updates can occur at the microcode level, BIOS, drivers, etc. MOst will occur though a BIOS update if necessary.

You got your wish, a new driver has been posted.

Get it now

This seems a little nuts but after updating my mainboard BIOS to 1205 and installing this new CPU driver my idle temp went down about 9C. I'm not complaining.
