| AMD Price Cuts AMD is dropping some prices tomorrow. Great prices if you're looking to upgrade or build a nice budget pc. They could also become collectors items if AMD goes bankrupt! ![]() ![]() The price cuts we talked about on Friday will go live tomorrow and will offer the Athlon X2 line-up a price advantage, at least until the 22nd of July when Intel is set to introduce the new, slightly improved E6X50 series. But, if Intel is not your thing then you'll be happy to know that the whole X2 series will, beginning tomorrow feature nothing but sub-$200 CPUs with the 6000+ set to cost only $169. As for the rest of the line-up, the 5600+ will go from $179 to $149, the 5200+ will cost $129 while the 4400+ will go from $115 to just $89. http://www.tcmagazine.com/comments.p...=15349&catid=6

| I wonder if they ever came down on the FX-60. I doubt it since it's the fastest you can go on socket 939. It would be nice with so much stuff utilizing multicores, but no way am I paying $500+ for one.

| Interesting. I wonder if AMD had a built up stock of A64 and is trying to clear room for Barcelona, or they are trying to revert to the Athlon Xp days when the most expensive processor you could get is for $300.

| Re: AMD Price Cuts Looks like I got in just before the price cut. Happens to me every time I'm still pretty happy with the price I paid to upgrade my chip to a 6400 (£98 or about $200). I considered switching to Intel but the cost of the chips combined with a new mobo and ram killed that idea fast.
