Forgot to mention I've also tried disabling PEG Link mode as suggested in a sticky somewere else..
I've done a couple of setups with just one drive which if I remmember gave me about 1000 more in 3d mark o5' and were a little quicker....
My thoughts are its something to do with the raid/controller ...maybe the driver not been installed ...the firmware is interesting for the raptors if its a compatability issue.
I've also gone and bought a new PSU a hyper X the PSU im using ive fitted a 20-24 pin adapter ..maybe thats causing an issue ?

ah well ill keep tryin..i pray

Have you flashed the bios? The 1009 bios is absolutely horrible and it can only help to go to 1103.

Mike.
I havent mike I will do as a last reort in case I have to RMA...not heard of any other reports of 1009 being bad and its mainly to fix O/C ing issues which id love to get to at somepoint..:bigcry:
Before I do that id like to try an inst /w/o the nvidia IDE drivers n see if that helps ? and maybe a single drive install again and or PSU change over ..

When I installed XP on my system, I used the nvidia sata raid files that were included in the 6.66 drivers. These have never failed me. Once XP is installed, I installed the latest version 6.85 X16 drivers downloaded from Nvidia's website.

Well the good news is I've found out what it is ...

The bad news so far is I might be able to do nothing about it...

After last post I tried disconnecting usb firewire from board...then fans apart from cpu of course from the mainboard....nope

Fitted a new modular PSU...nope..

removed sound card and clean installed and drivers etc....nope

So I decided to install again ..and test after each thing I did..did a clean install XP SP1 no changes made ran sisandra from previous install and it loaded in 2-3 seconds ..now I knew it wasnt a knacked controller...I then put on SP2 restarted and then tested again ...bang 32 seconds..so it was SP2 all along..!!£$£$££$$%%

Only problem is I need SP2 for amd hotfix new audigy drivers etc...so I decide to try a clean install again with SP2 incorperated..hoping that would fix it ...nope 32 seconds...so I've just done all the windows updates avalible to see if they fix it...nope

So im thinking the only thing I can do is a bios update ?

I'm surprised that SP2 is giving you problems as I've had no problems with SP2 installed on my system. I've still got bios 1009 installed in my mobo.

Is Sandra the only software giving you problems?

Roxio easy cd took ages to install and the system seemed a lot slower ...Ive just reinstalled roxio again seemed better 2mins 40sec ? but the system still feels slow...and with games like oblivion doing massive amounts of swap to the hdd slow hdd performance is one thing i hate ...I read this on [H]ardocp :-

"NVIDIA’s RAID Drivers

While in the past we have blamed some motherboard builders with the fault of NVIDIA RAID difficulties, it has recently come to light through our own countless hours of RAID testing that NVIDIA is squarely to blame for most of the RAID issues we have seen.

While testing our first retail A8N32-SLI Deluxe, I had no SATA RAID issues at all. During my own personal build using another retail A8N32-SLI, I could not get Windows XP Pro to even boot to a desktop after a perfect install. NVIDIA and ASUS are aware of these issues and have confirmed them. NVIDIA knows they have driver issues and were asked to make a statement as to this issue weeks ago but are currently playing the waiting game with us.

The RAID problems seem to be simply hit and miss. I have actually seen a system that showed RAID issues for days, simply disappear on the next reboot. NVIDIA has duplicated my problems as well. NVIDIA’s RAID solution can be solid at best and flaky at worst and it all seems to be luck of the draw.

Most people seem to not have issues, but some certainly do. This problem is not specific to ASUS and we have seen it across nearly every brand of motherboard solid in the USA over the last year. Once my own NVIDIA RAID system was up and running (RAID 0+1 across 4 250GB hard drives) it has been perfect."

I would recommend download the 6.66 XP32 drivers from this link:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_...e_archive.html

Once you unpack the drivers, copy the sataraid files from IDE\XP\SATARAID folder to a floppy diskette.

These are the only set of drivers that have worked for me in both NFORCE4 motherboards in my signature.

so you recommend the nForce4 AMD Edition (6.66) - Windows XP/2000 (32-Bit)
Version: 6.66

and not the nForce4 AMD/Intel X16 - Windows XP/2000 (32-Bit)
Version: 6.85

I've been using the drivers that came on the asus CD..for the boot floppy

I'm using the nforce4 AMD Edition version 6.66 XP32 instead of the ones that came on the Asus CD. I was going to try the ones that came on the Asus CD, but decided to continue using 6.66 version drivers as these have never given me any problems.

It may or may not solve any of the specific problems listed here but the newer bios (1103) is superior to the 1009. I'd suggest a flash when it is convenient.

Mike.

Here's what bios 1103 fixes according to the Asus website:

A8N32-SLI Deluxe Bios version 1103
1- Support VCT Function for both LAN.
2- Show pink and red color when oversetting Dram voltage.
3- Fixed System show wrong Memory Installed Size when Enable Memory Hole Function.
4- Update AI Booster Code to improve overclocking ability.
