| Heatsink recommendations!? I "need" a new heatsink for my A64 3500+. The stock cooler isn't loud as such, but it still irritates me I've considered various modelse so far: - Thermalright SI-120 + 18db pabst fan - Thermalright Ultra-90 - Zalman CNPS7000 AlCu - Zalman CNPS7700 AlCu - Zalman CNPS9500 - Scythe Samurai Z I'm leaning towards one of the thermalrights or the Zalman 9500, mainly because I can install those without having to replace the backplate on the motherboard (unless anyone can confirm that the 7000 or 7700 will work with the MSI K8N-NEO4 stock backplate?) Does anyone have experience with any of these coolers on an A64 3500+ ? I off course plan to run any Zalman cooler in silent mode! |

| A little pricey but I like the Zalman 9500 series. A breeze to install (on socket 939, needs a backplate for Intel 975 etc.) It's super quiet and very efficient. Looks great in a windowed case too

| The 9500A has my vote, i love mine! 450MHz overclock (i know its small) and i am not even noticing temp increases with the fan at its lowest speed. I have my motherboard monitor the fan speed and keep it as low as possible. It only gets hot when i am compiling, and then the fan just comes on!

| Thanks guys I ended up going for the Zalman CNPS9500 AM2, mainly because it was available here in town It has to be the easiest install of a heatsink I ever tried. It took me all of 2 minutes once I had the stock heatsink off. The old heatsink pulled the CPU out with it though and I bent a few pins, but nothing a small kitchen knife couldn't handle It instantly dropped my idle temperature by 8 degrees, and that's in quiet mode. Paired with a Zalman VF-900 on my graphics card, and I have a very quiet rig |
