| I really need some help with this Hey, I already have a thread on this with 34 views and no responses but I need some help so I came here where you guys are really good with helpin' with this stuff! haha Anyway. Like I've said before. I have a problem. I thought I was buying a AMD San Diego 4000+ core but when I received it the Stepping numbers were: CAA2C I believe this is the Clawhammer. I know all about the two cores. But, the problem I have is what you guys would do. Would you return it because it's not the San Diego? I got it for an amazing deal of 250 bucks. What do I do? Return it or keep it? Will I see the difference between the two? If I overclock it, it wouldn't be by much. What would you do? Return it or keep it knowing you got a good deal? Will I see the difference between the two in terms of performance? Thanks! Sorry I made two threads. I just need some help as the gap on the time I can return this is getting slim.

| CAA2C is a single core, 1MB cache Clawhammer chip... if you bought it thinking it was a San Diego chip then return it and get the San Diego...it's about getting what you ordered and not just keeping whatever you get Clawhammer is 130 nm. San Diego is 90 nm. Smaller is better, so I would go with the San Diego...At stock speeds, they perform the same, but the smaller core uses less power and heat. where did you get it from Ebay?...or a retailer?

| Why do I think Ebay somehow? Tough one because if you can't get it replaced with a san diego then you have to take the money back when it still might be a good deal for a clawhammer. I personally would want my money back on priciple alone. BTW polonyc2 I see you went back to your old rig. What did you think of the last one?

| It was from ebay and the guy told me he would fully refund me my money. But, the thing is, it was so cheap and I haven't been able to find one for the same price. I've been looking for a San Diego around the same price but with no success. So return it huh? I'll contact him and just look for a better deal, I suppose. Thanks for the help. Yeah, I agree though, Speed. It really is a good deal on a Clawhammer alone. But, I really do want a San Diego because of power and cooling. I'll keep thinking it over... HOLY CRAP. I just found a San Diego for 240!! Good seller too. I'm going to go for this deal instead. Thanks!

| looking at zipzoomfly the difference betwween the clawhammer and the san diego is one dollar. You did get a good price. Might be worth it to keep it. I would at least try to get what you paid for first. http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...oryCode=010423 |

| I don't know much about what kind of performer the Clawhammer chips are...so maybe it is a good deal to keep it...someone with more experience with those chips could advise you better... SpeedDMN: you mean my old sig?...yeah I was just using yours because you were having trouble uploading it... ![]()

| Well boys, either way I just bought a San Diego core for 240.00. If the seller of my Clawhammer doesn't want it back it looks like I'll be sellin' it.

| Actually the seller thought it was the San Diego based on the 1mb of Cache. He just didn't understand. I know about the two cores from extensive research. I was just caught in a crossroads on what to do because I was just wondering what everyone else would do. BUT! Good news! He just gave me all my money back for the chip and I'm shipping it back and I ever made a few bucks on the deal. Thanks for all of your help! So now the San Diego is makin' its way to my house and I'm finally happy. I appreciate your guy's input!
