I just went through this on my MCE earlier this week. Discovered it was my RAM. I had to test with MS' Memory tester with a bootable disk.

Be prepared for a long long test. My 2GB takes over an hour for one pass. But as everyone said before the things that I can come up with is the PSU as #1 and mem as #2. The first PC that I built had a similar problem, would reboot or artifact in games. Turns out that I overloaded the PSU and the ram was not getting the required amps to run so it looked like a mem problem but would pass 32+ passes in Memtest 86+

I think i read somewhere that having 4gb of ram with windows xp would cause reboots and what not, i mite take out 2gb to see if that doesnt anything and to speed up the testing.

I took out 2gb of ram and let the tests run for little over 3hours and no problems. So i guess my board or windows didnt like 4gb of ram. So i guess ill have some memory to sell now.

It could be the motherboard or the CPU.

Wait till at least 32 passes. My Ballistix errored at pass 42 and continued on from there. Called up Crucial after I found out which stick was bad, and they told me to send in both of them.
