That type of situation happened to me twice in my life. First time, it turned out to be a crap 250 watt PSU I was using with my XP 1800+ system that I recycled from an old P2 build. After replacing the PSU, everything was fine. The second time, it was my CPU. It took one motherboard replacement for me to find out, but I was rewarded when Intel sent me a brand new retail boxed 3.2C 30 capper .

The Universal Plug and Play Device Host service depends on the SSDP Discovery Service service which failed to start because of the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

DCOM got error "The dependency service or group failed to start. " attempting to start the service upnphost with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{204810B9-73B2-11D4-BF42-00B0D0118B56}

thats all i see, i disabled the ssdp service and just turned it back on.

I hope its nothing major because i dont want to put any money in this system since its a socket939. Its a year and a half old which is a long time for me to keep a pc since i always upgraded every 6months, that was before things changed so much and so offen.

A failing power supply is the #1 suspect for random reboots, as CK8-04 mentioned. This symptom would also manifest itself if you changed your wiring during the hard drive change and put a heavier load on one leg than it was designed to handle. Under such a situation, the power supply is not able to come up with enough current and you will get random problems that end up causing a reboot. If rewiring doesn't help, and if you have a spare PSU, or if you are willing to upgrade to a unit that will work with your current board and an upgraded system, it would probably be worth your while to swap the PSU. After that, it could be failing CPU or memory.

I was thinking power supply or motherboard since its a cheap ecs board. In my system right now i have a enermax 550watt with 36 amps. One lead as 2 dvd burners, one lead has a hdd. Then the 24pin power connector with the extra 4pin and the 6pin pci-e connector for my 7950gt video card.

I'd try to boot into and run Ubuntu liveCD, just in case you have a virus.

That wiring layout should pose no problems, so I think we can safely eliminate that as an issue.

I would hate to have to reload windows again to see if that the problem. Im going to keep testing my hardware before i bring out the xp cd. I just hope this pc will last me till next year and get me a true quad core cpu.
