I agree with the other posters on one faster card being better then 2 slower ones. I am not sure of the price of the 7600gt's but I am pretty sure just one 7800GTX (not the 512mb version) would best 2 of them. The orice would have to be around the same. That makes for less case clutter (mine is a mess) less heat, less power consumption.

Thats where the lack of knowledge on these blasted new naming schemes comes in. I hope it's not a step backwards.

The X2 3800+ are about the same in performance so the 4500 should score around a x2 4600 chip.

No biggie, your new mobo has one IDE connector and I see you ordered a sata burner, so you should be just fine...
Besides, it's gives you an excuse to by a raptor later for the OS and use the humungo IDE drive for data...

Hey guys......Sorry I have been away. Here is where we stand!

Ok, This upgrade got TOTALLY screwed up! Right after I ordered this stuff the crap hit the fan so to speak. I got sick, VERY sick from the Chemo. That put me back in the Hospital getting fluids and nausea medications via IV. While there, We got hit with a couple of VERY unexpected bills. Something is wrong in our home causing the A/C to not be able to keep it cool. It get's to 92F on the hottest days inside. That is hard on the wife and kids. Hard on me too but I deal with it. Electric bill came and was over $400!! I Immediately went to work trying to figure out a tree that grows real money....No Luck.

I found a buyer for my AMD system and sold most of it. Was without a PC for a couple of days. (Wife still has hers). Got that bill taken care of. New parts arrived and got hit with another unexpected yet large bill. OMG, When will it end? Decided I had no choice but to sell the new parts as well and just share my wifes PC. Found a buyer and made arrangments to make the sale. Got that bill out of the way! (Whew).

Now, Here I was, No PC (Working), Lot's of Brand new parts laying around that no longer belong to me, An empty case/PSU and a Monitor. Hmmmm. Got a call from a fellow ABXr from up North. He said after about 7 years that it was time we actually met in person. We have talked all along via IM's and phones and even here. We talked for a while and he mentioned he had a couple of old parts laying around that he was going to bring down with him for me. What a great guy I thought!

Fast forward to 08/04/2007 and sure enough, I get the phone call at 11AM that SAMCOLT has arrived at my home!

Was a great time meeting Jeff after so many years of talking. And sure enough, As he promised he came bearing parts! Remember those "old" parts I mentioned that he had "laying" around? In hand and he wanted to build a PC. To work we go!

Took Down my Lian-Li V2000B and stripped it of all parts that no longer belong to me. (Waiting for the guy that bought the E4500 and other items to bring his case etc to build in).

Jeff & I stood at the Kitchen counter and went to work while my wife laughed at us for both being so involved with computers.

He pulls out his "old" Motherboard........ EVGA 680i IN THE BOX!!! Then he rips open the package on a BRAND NEW E6550 Retail CPU!! We install both and then he whips out what I think was the ONLY used part in the bunch....An Nvidia 7600GT which is no sloutch compared to my former X800 Pro. So while I am messing around with one thing, he is doing another. He whipe out this weird looking something or other.......I asked what it was. Oh, Just a brand new Monsoon II TEC CPU Coling System!! Holy Crap Dude! He installed that, We hooked up the HDD's I had left and other little things and fired her up! WOW!

This thing screams! So far, In the BIOS I have gotten 3.5GHz and was able to boot Windows fine. Temp never went over 41C loaded! :O

Put everything in the BIOS back to defaults and quit tinkering till I have more time to babysit it but Super PI was stable. So was Ortheos.

Anyway, Jeff left and went back to his Hotel to get ready for dinner. He had graciously offered to take my wife and I out to eat and would not accept a place like "Outback" or "Longhorns", No.....He took us to Ruth's Chris Steak House here in Jacksonville riverfront and spared no expense! What a great guy Jeff is!

Jeff, If you read this I want to thank you again from the bottom of my heart and from Louise and the girls as well! Thank you for helping me have a working PC of my own again, Thank you for the best dinner I have ever had in my life!! Thank you for being such a wonderful & caring person and for showing my entire family real human compassion! You are always welcome in our home!

So to end this thread on a good note, I am online. Faster than before. Screaming along the Information Super Highway. and I am still kicking.

That night, 08/04 made me feel like a brand new man again. I forgot all about this stupid sickness I am battling and actually felt great. My wife and I were so stuffed that we both slept like rocks that night.

Keri & Louise

I could honestly care less about the free hardware. The point to me was meeting such a wonderful and caring person that I had "known" online for about 7 years yet never shook hands face to face with till now.

I mentioned the rest mainly so everyone would know where I stand with my computer which is what this thread was about.

I did ask for and received Jeff's (Samcolt's) permission to say who it was that did these kind deeds for me and my family.
