| I currently own a HP dv9005us and it overheats like crazy and it keeps on shutting down due to this extreme overheating. Any ideas on how to make it stop shutting down, because it's starting to get pretty annoying... |

| Re: Overheating Try doing a combination of things. Laptops do collect dust and you should probably look into cleaning it out soon using an air sprayer also look into something like this: Newegg.com - BYTECC Notebook Cooling Pad ( Aluminum ) Powered by USB port Model NC-500 (USB) - Laptop Accessories |

| Re: Overheating Jake is probably right on with respect to dust being the culprit. It is probably blocking the airflow through the cpu heatsink. I'm not familiar with the particular laptop, but I suspect you will have to remove the cpu heatsink (located under one of the removeable panels on the bottom of the laptop) in order to get at the area where the blockage has built up. But be aware that whenever a cpu heatsink is removed, proper practice is to clean off the residual thermal paste with high purity alcohol, and reapply new thermal paste before reattaching the heatsink. If the problem is really due to overheating, that is most likely the one truly effective solution. But if you have no experience doing this, or if you do not have the proper materials, it is obviously best left to either a professional or to someone who has experience building computers. Regards, -- Al
