Weird mobo/sound problem.

Here's a weird one. The other day, my sound quit working. I double checked everything to make sure it wasn't software related. I come to the conclusion that my onboard audio died. I went out last night and purchased a cheap SB Audigy SE from Walmart for 30$. Plugged it up and while the sound wasn't that great, it was working.

Just a few minutes ago, my sound stopped working again. So I go through the motions to see if a software boo boo. Nothing. So I begin to think that my Logitech 5300s must be going out. I go and dig through my attic looking for a pair of old speakers I could try.

I tried them and nothing. I figure they must be blow. So I take these same speakers to my other computer and they work..

so not I am thinking ***?

At this point, I am thinking of one or two things...

The PSU is puking and systematically taking stuff with it
Or the mobo is dying a slow death.

BTW, its an A8V mobo
PSU is an Antec 430.

Both are old. Any ideas I might be missing here?

Just a thought but do your speakers have their own power supply?
If so, then that could be the problem!
