Talking Well I finally upgraded and tansitioned to AMD!

I havent posted here much in a while but I finally got bit with the upgrade bug.

I'm selling my 2.6ghz oc to 3.21ghz, Asus P4C800-E rev 2.0 and my ATI AIW 9800 pro.

I bought a AMD 3700+ retail with a ECS Motherboard (ATI Chipset) and a HIS X850XT. That cost me 414 total. Ive been a Intel follower since the 2.26ghz 533 came out up until the good ol Northwood days with the 875P chipset. But ever since the 939 chipset came out it seems to be AMD.

I couldnt help it. My system has been rock hard stable and I havent had one problem with it but the damn AGP cards are too expensive. What i can get for my current stuff on ebay is damn near what I just paid.

Do i have to upgrade, no it plays new games fine but for an very small fee i might as well....and it will play games better

My zalman will fit the new cpu and Im going to use a 20 - 24 pin. I will test the ECS board out and sell it on ebay as well. I havent had time to research it yet but most likely i will be purchasing the ASUS A8N-E board. Just figured id post this up since its been a while (ive been spending my forum time on sportbike sites).

Either way if any of you have any suggestions on what board or somthing else i need to update post up.

I'll have my stuff on friday!

I'm about ready to order the ECS KA1 MVP Motherboard, getting tired of the sound suttering and skipping on this A8R-MVP Motherboard I have. Don't know if a repair reinstall of WindowsXP to get rid of the ULI SATA Raid drivers will work or not.

With the ECS board, the chipset is totally ATI, which is more than I can say for the A8R-MVP.

Good going. Welcome, Welcome. Theres been a lot of people peeking in the AMD door, glad to see you came on in.

I made the switch about a 1-1/2 years ago and have been happy with the performance of AMD. I'm not sure if I'll ever be an Inel guy again but who knows.

I've used ASUS, MSI and ABIT motherboards with AMD/Nvidia chipsets and they have all been great performers. So you can't go wrong with ASUS.

I wouldn't get the A8R-MVP, there's some problems with it including sound/music stuttering and skipping. It needs a bios update, and ASUS so far is refusing to put out the new bios, as I found out on another website the new bios is ready.

I never sided with one brand only (except for enermax on psu) but it just seems like intel has been running behind ever since the hottie named prescott.

Just wondering what ill use for a temp monitor on that board.

You can use Asus probe. If you don't like Asus probe, which I don't. You can use Speedfan, which is what I use. Great for reading CPU, MB and hard drive temps.

The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march.
