Has anyone here had a problem with the Asus A8N in which when it boots up, there's nothing on the screen? Initially after installing everything on to the motherboard, there were no problems. Then when my hard drive failed on me, I decided to figure out if the hard drive was really dead or something else was causing the problem. As a result of shutting down the system via the power button because I had no other way to shut down the system, the system would boot up but there's nothing on the screen. As a result of this, I had to reset the CMOS in order to get the screen to display something. Has anyone had something similar to this? Thanks.

I have an case exhaust fan plugged into it. It avoids the nag. Hopefully asus will update this in bios.

Asus A8N-SLI CPU FAN Monitoring

Is the fan you plugged in in the back of the case? Does it have to be any special kind of fan? What do you use?

Yes, it's in the back (exhaust) of the case. No special fan. Easy as pie. But they need to update bios to avoid that nag when no fan is plugged in.

Question A8n SLI Boot problem

Has anyone had this boot problem?....When I boot up for the first time I get no video (Specs below) then if I shut down from the psu and boot up again everything woks fine, when I shut down, boot up the next morning same problem.. so basicly I have to boot up twice to get the system running. Now I had to throw in a PCI video card just to get everything running, cause as you know the 2 6800 ultra's that I want are hard to find and if you do find them they want a million $ for them, and I know its not the PCI video card cause I swapped it with another one and I get the same problem...so if anyone can help

ASUS A8n SLI Deluxe ( original Bios )
AMD FX 55 @ stock speed
Corsair Twinx 3200XL Pro (2x512's)
2 Westen Digital 36g Raptors in RAID ) on the Nvidia controller
and get this LOL eVGA MX 4000 PCI card w/ 64mb ram
Silverstone Technology Nimiz Black Aluminum Tower SST-TJ03B w/ side window
PC Power Cooling Turbo SLI express
WinXP Pro w / SP2

SO, i'm assuming you are using the evga mx4000 card? what slot did you plug into? How do you have this setup in bios? There is a primary video card...is it set to pci or pci-e? What about the sli card is it for single or dual cards? Is SLI set to "auto" in bios?

Yes I'm useing the Evga MX 4000 card....the mx 4000 is a PCI card, I've installed the card in all PCI slots, still the same problem...the bios is set up to seek PCI video first, the sli card is set to single card (default) ant the sli mode in the bios is set to "Auto".....The funny thing is, is that when I recieved the board the manual states that the SLI selector card is set to "single card mode" by default from the factory, but when I looked @ the board it was set to "Dual Card Mode" so I think something was fishy before I even got the board, who knows its just a hunch. I finally tried everything that I know so I just RMAed the board. I just wanted to know if anyone was haveing the same problems with a PCI card, maybe thats the problem that this board is so geared up for PCI-Express that when you use a PCI card its wacked......but that should'nt be. I bet if i could get my hands on 2 6800 Ultra's PCI-Express i woulndt even care .......

The manual is wrong about the orientation of the selector card. I've received 2 boards and they were both set to dual.

Cool thanks, thats good to know, at least i can eliminate that, but like i said I just RMA'ed the board so we'll see, I let you guys know what happenes. It could be just a faulty board its happened to be before.

right, I got 2 a8n's and BOTH were set for dual cards. I bet it was a last minute decision or the composer of the manual was given the wrong info.

Mine was set to single (maybe from an early batch of the 1.02 revision?).

In reference to some of the problems above (without of course disregarding the possibility of a faulty motherboard), I found my cold boot problems disappeared when I moved the Maxtor SATA drive from NVSATA3 to the SiL3114 controller. Set it to JBOD on that single disk and it hasn't caused a problem since.

It's a workaround not a solution, as you should be able to RAID 1&2 and standalone 3, hopefully they will address this is later BIOS revisions.

Hey Guys! Here's what I've got so far Prime95 stable:

no particular order:

mem 2.5-3-3-10-13-17 1T ; 2.8v ; ddr400 1:1

cpu 234 x 12 = 2,808 ; 1.6375v

I got 30,874 in 3dmark01; 10,010 in 3dmark05; 1M digits of pi = 31 seconds.

video oc = 400/1.06

PS: This OC of mobo was easy to acheive. In fact it was my first try. I simply went into bios first and set ddr = 400 to run 1:1 and oc to manual. Then started up ai-booster and just increased fsb a few points. Exited, restarted, went into bios and set above settings...bam...done. The only other thing that I did was went back in after some testing and set row cycle time = 13 and refresh cycle =15. I going to try to lower them to like 9 and 13.

cpu temp = 39c idle ; 54c when running prime 95 or extreme load, ambient 68F.

and I'm using beta 1003-006

PPS: i guess i can't complain about the 3d05 score, and i don't even have ultras....yet!

Bryan

Congrats! I like 71.24 beta, however it reads the temps wrong on the card.
