yes, if I use 66.93 driver, it shows 51 idle which is normal. If I use 71.24 it shows 74 idle!

I don't know why it is reading incorrectly, probably because it does not directly define support for 6800 cards?

Also using 71.24's and temp readings for 6600GT's are fine.

Also note new 1003.008 beta BIOS in this thread over at Xtreme.

Haven't tried it myself yet ...

Unhappy

Hya.
I'm running an A8N-SLi with an Athlon64 3500+, 2x512MB Corsiar Valueram and 2 MSi 6800 cards in SLi and I get a score in 3DMark05 of 2913.
Isn't that a bit low?
Before I got the same setup with an X800-XT and had about 5600 marks in 3DMark05.

The benchmark starts ok but then after a minute I get a drop of 30-35 fps and everything starts to stutter.
I even can't get over 8 fps then.

The motherboard is running 1002 BIOS and Nforce drivers supplied with the CD.
Videocards are running 71.24 drivers and are non OC'd.
SLi is enabled in BIOS and in the drivers.
I also tried setting SLi mode to auto in BIOS.

Is this a temp problem maybe (Card 1 has about 70 degrees Celsius and card 2 56 degrees Celcius.)

DaSilva - thats is not right at all! I'm assumiing they are the standard 6800s - not GTs or Ultras - and as such don't have an extra power connector.

What PSU are you using.?

Have you connected the EZ Plug molex connector to the motherboard?

Have you tried different drivers? 71.24 are known to report temperatures differently (read higher) than earlier drivers, and as such MAY throttle too early. How are you getting the temperatures? Are they at idle?

Lastly have you checkedc in device manager that both cards are active?

Hey Glorfy thanks for the fast reply!

Yup these are the standard 6800s without an extra power connector.
I also have connected the EZ molex plug.
My PSU is an Antec Neopower 480Watt.
Both cards are active in device manager and they both work in 3D (I tried the option to show load balance between cards in D3D).
For drivers I have also tried the 67.03 drivers but they gave the same result.

Going to try a clean Windows install now but I don't think this will make a difference because now I used drivercleaner to get rid of the ATi drivers.

Hmm... I had an Antec Neopower 480 - it wouldn't run my system at all! Even clocking back to 310 it would still crash - but it would crash, not slow down! I used a second PSU initially to prove that my problem was PSU related..

Are your temps showing any better with the different drivers? Can you check what they are at load? Is have you any monitoring software, just to confirm temps while 3D is running? If not download RTHDRIBL, and run it with the temperature window open - note this will oinly stress GPU 1.

If its any comfort to you - you're not alone! My cards won't work in SLI at all any more - though they are fine seperately - go figure!

Did you go into the Nvidia display settings (right click desktop choose "nvidia display settings) choose Performance and Quality Settings. Put a check in "Show advanced settings" Make sure "sli rendering mode" is set to " SLI Multi GPU rendering" NOT SINGLE GPU RENDERING!

I also change from "quality" to "performance" Hope this helps! Let us know!!!

I'm getting 30,874 marks in 01 and 10,014 marks in 05. But I have my mobo oc'ed to 2.8 and video 400/1.6

PS: as far as temp goes, I'm glad to see your getting 71c or so. Because I am too. I think that 71.24 reports temps wrong, because if I install 66.93 I get a normal temp of like 49-51c idle. I downloaded 71.24 from guru3d, in the extracted files is a "modded" inf file and the instructions show to replace your original file in the installation folder if your video card is NOT supported. Well 6800 is NOT supported per the read me. I replaced w/ the modded inf, and when rebooted, sli was recognized, but in the properties display there was no tab for sli or extended performance settings. So I put it back and did NOT use the modded inf file. However, I believe the temps are wrong.

Talking

OMG just did that bap4201 and I got my score boosted to 6813 in 3DMark05.
This is what I should be getting I guess!!!
Thanks a lot guys for the help

I just wonder why they "hide" that SLi option in the drivers and just show the "Enable SLi Multi-GPU" option that actully doesn't really enable multi-GPU.

Oh well I guess it's just me getting used to the drivers as Nvidia-newbee
